Guawi

With an indoor flowering time of 11 to 12 weeks and an outdoor harvest window that breeder ACE Seeds places between the 3rd week of October and early November, Guawi ranks among the late-flowering sativa hybrids. It originates from an old Malawi mother plant that ACE Seeds lists as Old Malawi Killer, crossed with an F5-generation Tikal line; the breeder states a ratio of 85 % sativa to 15 % indica.

Cultivation:

ACE Seeds describes a medium to large plant with vigorous branching and rates the yield as high. For outdoor cultivation, the breeder names latitudes between 0° and 43°, meaning warm regions with a warm or mild autumn. Heat tolerance is stated as high, tolerance to cold, botrytis, spider mites and whitefly as average to high, and to powdery mildew as average.

Under artificial light, ACE Seeds names a 12/12 schedule, with 11/13 for shorter cycles. Because of the yield at the main cola, the breeder considers the variety suitable for SOG, and because of the pronounced side branches, suitable for SCROG and other horizontal training methods.

Community Experiences:

Across 2 documented indoor grows, flowering time ranges from 80 to 140 days, averaging 110 days. Stretch is pronounced, from around 30 cm at the start of flowering to a final height of about 150 cm. Reports describe many long, sturdy side branches and a christmas-tree-shaped structure, along with rather airy buds after drying and a slightly above-average flower-to-leaf ratio. Consistently mentioned are low nutrient demand, tolerance to both over- and under-fertilization and to temperature fluctuations, and no reported susceptibility to fungal infestation. One report highlights slow vegetative growth, small flowers and very dark foliage. According to the reports, the plant tolerates supercropping, topping of the main stem and SCROG well; it is classified as a growing project for experienced growers.

Genetics and Origin:

According to ACE Seeds, the Tikal line contains 75 % Guatemalan sativa genetics. The breeder states that it contributes the more compact structure, the shorter flowering time and the fruity terpene profile, while the Malawi side accounts for duration and potency. ACE Seeds explicitly describes the version currently sold as a remake of an earlier cross of the same name and lists it as feminized seed.

Aroma and Flavor:

The breeder describes an initial spicy, woody impression, accompanied by fruity notes of mango, peach and strawberry as well as incense, over a resinous, oily background. An older strain description adds floral tones and orange.

THC and CBD Content:

ACE Seeds states a THC content of 19 to 23 %, CBD below 0.05 % and CBG at 0.5 %. These are breeder figures, not laboratory results.
