Ethos Genetics expected cup wins when Inzane In The Membrane started making the rounds among growers. In discussions from autumn 2018, the breeder is said to have guaranteed more than 30 % THC and over 4 % terpenes, expecting the strain to dominate the sativa categories of competitions for years. After the first harvests, the mood in the same discussions shifted, partly because of a report of an analysis showing only 19.8 % THC. The breeder keeps the lineage of the predominantly sativa strain secret.
Genetics and Origin:
Behind the strain is Ethos Genetics, a seed company from Denver led by Colin Gordon. The breeder names the fantasy parents Noneya and Bizness; the actual cross is said to be closely guarded. A fully spelled-out lineage circulates nonetheless: [(Super Lemon Haze × Forbidden Fruit) × Ghost Train Haze] × Citral Glue. Growers cited it in 2018 from a seed bank description, and a US producer lists the same 4 strains in its product description. The strain description published by the breeder does not name it. The strain is also listed as Insane in the Membrane, Inzane, or simply Inz.
Other breeders have used it as a parent. MadCat's Backyard Stash crossed it with Nuclear Cherries to create Inzane Cherry and with Cosmic Orgasm to create Inzane Orgasm, Prima crossed it with I-95 to create Travolta, and Coalition Seed Co crossed it with Legend Orange Apricot to create Lodie. Brother Mendel's Selection combined it with Black Strap to create Crazy Strapped Kush. Ethos itself produced the autoflowering Inzane Auto with Zweet Auto.
THC Content:
Ethos Genetics advertised the strain with 30 to 35 % THC. Strain descriptions set lower figures, citing 18 % or a range of 18 to 28 %. The analysis showing 19.8 % THC, reported by a grower in 2018, is only documented second-hand; the lab and sample remained unnamed. The labels of two batches packaged in Canada showed 30.3 % (2022) and 24.8 % THC (2023). Values vary depending on batch, cultivation, and phenotype.
Aroma and Flavor:
Citrus defines the aroma, especially lemon and lime. Descriptions add pine, fresh herbs, floral notes, and a savory diesel tone; one Canadian batch smelled sweetly earthy with lime. In flavor, the lemon is described as distinctly sour, with a slightly woody finish. Consumers also mention spice, earthiness, and in individual batches an ammonia note. During flowering, growers perceived the smell as sweet and skunky, while one plant smelled purely of citrus.
Strain descriptions list myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene as the predominant terpenes. The labels of Canadian batches deviate from this: one named caryophyllene, terpinolene, and humulene, another nerolidol, myrcene, caryophyllene, limonene, and cineole.
Effects:
Reports describe a fast-acting, stimulating cerebral effect with euphoria, drive, and elevated mood; talkativeness and creativity are also mentioned, sometimes accompanied by tingling and physical relaxation. In one Canadian batch, a tester described wakeful alertness, in another a euphoric onset that turned into haziness and sedation. Assessments of the potency diverge: some found it stronger than expected, others felt hardly anything in the head, and one report describes initially unpleasant reactions that eased with tolerance. Dry mouth, dry eyes, dizziness, and anxiety are mentioned as side effects.
Cultivation:
For the Ethos version, strain descriptions state a flowering time of 60 to 70 days. The breeder characterizes the plant as vigorous and very tall, with very large yields under good cultivation; regular pruning is recommended where headroom is limited. Seed bank figures put the yield at over 600 g/m² indoors and over 1000 g per plant outdoors, where harvest falls in October. Large, compact buds with dense resin coverage are described, drying light green with orange pistils.
How uniformly the strain grows is disputed. Seed banks speak of low morphological variation, while growers documented 3 phenotypes in 2018: 2 bushier ones with short internodes and a narrow-leaved, tall-growing one with sparse foliage and a pure citrus smell. One grow report recorded a stretch by a factor of 2 after the onset of flowering and large colas already in week 6 of flowering.
Sources also disagree on seed types. One strain description lists only regular seeds and excludes feminized ones; a seed bank, on the other hand, listed feminized seeds from Ethos, and a grow diary from 2019 documents their sowing.
