MephistO'z is an autoflowering cross from Mephisto Genetics of Sour Stomper x Double Grape and the Oooze cut from 3rd Coast Genetics, later renamed.
This strain no longer exists under its original name: Mephisto Genetics renamed the automatic, released in 2024, for legal reasons, and it has since been sold as MephistO'z. The ambiguity continues on the parent side, since the defining cut from 3rd Coast Genetics is listed as either Oooze or Oreoz depending on the source.
The cross combines two in-house lines from Mephisto Genetics with a photoperiod clone from Northern California. Sour Stomper and Double Grape form the seed side, while the pollen comes from a backcrossed Oooze cut, which in turn traces back to Secret Weapon and Cookies and Cream. The breeder's aim was to convert a sought-after clone into a self-flowering form without losing its resin density or coloration.
Over several generations, selection favored a gas aroma while the grape note from the Double Grape side was pushed back; the strain is now offered as a feminized automatic of the F5 generation with a ratio of 60 % indica to 40 % sativa. As a parent, it now appears in several further crosses, including Cheezy Bizkitz, Creme O'z, L1mewire, Lemon O'z and Lime O'z from the same breeder, as well as Gmoreoz Auto from Butter Bean Birdseeds.
The breeder describes a gas-forward nose with an earthy base and attributes blue cheese, spicy chocolate, gas, spice and a hint of cream to the smoke. Mephisto Genetics rates the odor development during the cycle as high.
According to the breeder, the strain is euphoric, physically relaxing and long-lasting; its character is said to be more upbeat and creative than the indica-leaning lineage would suggest.
Mephisto Genetics states more than 25 % THC for well-grown plants. The figure is a breeder claim.
From germination to harvest, Mephisto Genetics estimates 70 to 85 days. During this time the plants reach 95 to 130 cm, and yield is given as 50 to 150 g per plant. Cultivation is possible both indoors and outdoors, though the breeder still rates the difficulty as high.
Growth is upright and slender, with a pronounced main cola and large internode spacing. The buds set densely and leaf content stays low, which reduces trimming effort; the breeder therefore considers defoliation and training largely unnecessary. According to the breeder's description, the strain is not nutrient-sensitive. Toward the end of the cycle, strong coloration moves into the fan and sugar leaves and even the bracts, ranging from deep purple to nearly black.
