Cultivation reports on Erdpurt contradict the breeder description on one striking point: ACE Seeds describes a columnar growth pattern with thick stems and good wind resistance, while growers report split shoots after topping and a plant that broke in a storm. Agreement exists on cold tolerance and coloration: the cross of the Swiss clone Erdbeer and the Ticino Purpurea Ticinensis pulls color into leaves, stems and flowers during late flowering.

Genetics and Origin:

Both parent lines originate from Switzerland. Erdbeer circulates as a clone-only cutting and is traced back to an unknown sativa with Afghan influence, though the lineage is not confirmed. Purpurea Ticinensis goes back to breeder Felix of Owl Productions and was selected over 8 years at 1,300 meters altitude in Ticino; the plants carry red stems and turn fully purple-red in cold conditions. ACE Seeds lists the result as 100% indica and describes it as an Afghani line selected in Northern Europe for short flowering and climate hardiness. Who made the cross first is not documented. As a parent it reappears in several crosses, including CBD #1, Early Bubba Hash and HashTonic from ACE Seeds.

THC and CBD Content:

ACE Seeds states THC and CBD each at 0.03 to 16% and attributes the range to the chemotype variation of the semi-stable line: balanced ratios of both cannabinoids are said to be most common, with individual plants occasionally occurring that produce only THC or only CBD. The breeder puts CBG content at up to 0.3%. Other strain descriptions list narrower figures of 4 to 8% THC with 12% CBD.

Aroma and Flavor:

The aroma depends on the phenotype. ACE Seeds describes green plants as smelling of roasted coffee, pine, moss, damp earth, hashish and freshly cut grass, while colored plants smell fruity, of blackberry and strawberry. Other strain descriptions compare the smoke to Yarkhun hashish from Pakistan and mention a spicy strawberry-hash flavor with a coffee note; user reports add floral, hash and licorice notes. One grower described the smell of the flowering plant as that of overripe fruit. One cultivation report names alpha-pinene, trans-ocimene and D-limonene as the dominant terpenes.

Effects:

The breeder classifies the effect as relaxing and creative at moderate strength. User reports point in the same direction, describing it as easygoing, talkative, cheerful and clear-headed. Reports diverge on drowsiness: one describes the strain as sleep-inducing, another explicitly stresses the opposite.

Cultivation:

For its own version, ACE Seeds states 7 weeks of indoor flowering, an outdoor harvest from August to early September, medium yield and a range of use from 0° to 55° northern latitude. The breeder rates cold tolerance as high, and heat, spider mites, mildew, botrytis and whitefly as average. Other strain descriptions give 7 to 9 weeks of flowering, list mildew and botrytis resistance as high and cold hardiness as very high, and consider the strain suitable for indoor, outdoor and greenhouse cultivation.

Growth is compact, mostly columnar, with few side shoots, thick stems and broad indica leaves; the flowers turn out hard and resinous, and the smell during flowering is strong. Seed-grown plants produce 2 phenotypes: one colored purple and one green that matures around 2 weeks later.

Versions from Different Breeders:

3 breeders carry the strain with the same parent combination. ACE Seeds offers feminized and regular seeds and states 7 weeks of flowering. Zenseeds sells regular seeds only, citing around 56 days of flowering and a very high yield. Hybrids from Hell likewise offers only regular seeds, states 7 to 8 weeks and dates the outdoor harvest, depending on latitude, from September 10 to October 30; this breeder also offers a selection for predominantly green phenotypes with around 8 weeks of flowering.

Community Experiences:

One outdoor grow at 47° northern latitude produced a bushy plant of around 90 cm with purple stems and dense trichome coverage, without losses from pests, cold or heat. Opposite experiences come from a rain-heavy location: mold and caterpillar damage there, plus both phenotypes ripening too late for the grower's climate. Another report mentions brittle stems even with careful training. Yield is described as high in these reports, and resin production consistently as strong; one grower rates the flower-to-leaf ratio as in need of improvement, while Zenseeds describes it as very good.
