Snowball

also known as Snowball S1

Indica-dominant
Indica 70 %Sativa 30 %

Snowball is an indica-dominant cross of The White and Chem 4 OG from Ethos Genetics in Colorado, described with dense resin coverage and a fuel-like smell.

Research as of 09/28/2026

Snowball was created by Ethos Genetics, a breeder based in Colorado, by crossing The White with Chem 4 OG, a line derived from Chem Dawg #4 and SFV OG Kush. Strain descriptions and grow reports highlight 2 traits: a dense trichome coverage that makes the compact buds appear white, and a fuel-like smell. Two descriptions set the indica share at 70% and the sativa share at 30%, while another lists the strain without any weighting, as a hybrid.

Genetics and Origin:

Ethos Genetics was founded by Colin Gordon and releases Snowball exclusively as feminized seeds. In the flower offerings of dispensaries, the strain also appears under the name Snowball S1.

One strain directory marks Snowball as a cup winner but names neither the competition nor the year or placement. In the published winner lists of the Cannabis Cup in Denver for 2011 through 2015 and the Colorado Cannabis Cup 2016, the name does not appear.

As a parent, Snowball is documented in several crosses. Glueball combines it with Gorilla Glue #4, Puget Sound Seeds crossed it with KLT X CNK for Snow Frost, and Pathetic Genetics combined an S1 phenotype with Runtz V2 from Kre8 Genetics for Snowball Runtz.

Aroma and Flavor:

Fuel dominates the descriptions: gasoline, diesel, and lighter fluid are mentioned, accompanied by creamy and earthy notes. Producers carrying the strain add a chemical note and sour citrus accents. In flavor, herbs, cream, and a hint of lemon appear alongside diesel. Some consumers instead taste more wood and nuts, and one described the smoke as harsh.

Caryophyllene, myrcene, and limonene top the terpene profile in one strain description. One producer names the same terpenes plus linalool and humulene, without giving amounts. Another description puts caryophyllene at 0.917 mg/g and humulene at 0.405 mg/g, without naming a lab or date.

THC Content:

THC values in strain descriptions range from 13 to 30% and consistently come from sources that name neither a lab nor a batch. One description states 23%, others give ranges of 13 to 29.3%, 23 to 30%, or 26 to 30%, and another a single value of 28.46%. Alongside the 23% THC figure, the same source lists 1% CBG.

Effects:

Relaxation and euphoria form the core of consumer reports, along with good mood, a tingling in the body, talkativeness, and creative thoughts. Reports disagree on how strongly the strain sedates. Some experience it as calm and mild, while others describe a sleepiness that builds into heavy sedation over time. The onset of effects is also described differently, sometimes immediate, sometimes slowly building. As side effects, reports name dry mouth and dry eyes; headaches are also mentioned, and one report notes grogginess the following morning.

Cultivation:

Snowball can be grown indoors and outdoors and is described in strain descriptions as suitable for beginners as well. One description gives 7 to 9 weeks of flowering, with the outdoor harvest set for early September. For yield, strain descriptions consistently name 50 to 75 g per square foot, converted to roughly 540 to 810 g/m². The buds are densely built, heavily frosted, and occasionally purple in color. Because of its susceptibility to mold, descriptions recommend good ventilation and regular checks.

One grower documented a run with 2 seeds under a 1000-watt high-pressure sodium lamp and planned 10 weeks of flowering. One of the two plants formed hermaphrodite flowers, while the other carried notably large flowers with a scent between kush and gas.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Crop King Seeds offers a feminized Snowball version with the same parent strains; the company does not state where its starting material comes from. Crop King names 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, 29 to 30% THC, and an outdoor harvest in early September for its version. For the Ethos Genetics version, besides the seed type, only the yield figure from strain descriptions is available.

Consensus

Relaxation and euphoria are at the center, along with good mood, tingling, talkativeness, and creative thoughts. As side effects, dry mouth and dry eyes are mentioned most. The smell is dominated by fuel notes.

Divergent reports

The strength of the sedation is experienced differently: sometimes calm and mild, sometimes intensifying into heavy sedation. The onset of effects is described sometimes as immediate, sometimes as gradual. In terms of flavor, some name wood and nuts instead of diesel, and one found the smoke harsh. In one grow, one of 2 plants formed hermaphrodite flowers.
