Blue Flame is a predominantly sativa-leaning cross by the Gage Green Group from Super Blue Dream and Inferno Haze; Cannabiotix lists a strain of different lineage as Blue Flame OG.
Blue Flame is a cross by the Gage Green Group, also listed as Gage Green Genetics, between Super Blue Dream and Inferno Haze. Both parents have Haze in their lineage. It can easily be confused with Blue Flame OG, which the producer Cannabiotix lists from different parent strains; some strain descriptions nevertheless give Blue Flame OG as a second name for the Gage Green strain.
Super Blue Dream came from Blue Dream and Super Silver Haze from Mr. Nice Seedbank. Inferno Haze is an F1 of Fire OG Kush, a phenotype of OG Kush from the stock of OG Raskal Genetics, and Afghan Haze from Mr. Nice Seedbank. As its breeding goal, Gage Green names a Haze line that combines the yield and appeal of Super Blue Dream with the strength of Inferno Haze.
The breeder classes the strain as predominantly sativa-leaning; another strain description puts the ratio at 75 % sativa to 25 % indica. Gage Green released Blue Flame only as regular seeds, and the line was never available there as feminized.
According to the breeder, Blue Flame grows vigorously and yields without much effort. It can be cultivated indoors and outdoors, and Gage Green estimates 8 to 9 weeks of flowering.
Another strain description differs: it speaks of 9 to 11 weeks of flowering, a warm, Mediterranean-type climate and extra space needed in height, which the Haze lineage is said to bring with it. The appearance of the flowers is also described inconsistently. One source describes dense, spade-shaped buds in dark olive green with a bluish undertone, dark amber hairs and clear trichomes, another elongated, forest-green flowers with orange pistils.
Gage Green describes a blend of the sweet aromas of Blue Dream and the peppery, fuel-like smell of Inferno Haze. Strain descriptions pick this up with spicy berries and pungent earth; in the flavor, peppery berry is followed on the exhale by an impression of herbs and earth. Elsewhere blueberry, blue cheese and skunk are listed, and myrcene, pinene and caryophyllene are named there as dominant terpenes, though without quantities. User reports mention blueberry and a skunky note, and one highlights the smooth smoke.
According to the breeder, the strain stimulates creativity and drive. In strain descriptions and user reports, energy and concentration come to the fore, along with euphoria and good mood. A head-focused high is described, partly accompanied by a mellow body effect. One consumer compared Blue Flame to Blue Dream, only less intense. Another, in contrast, described hunger, tiredness and strong sedation after a single puff.
Among the unwanted effects, strain descriptions list dizziness, anxiety and paranoia. One user report describes anxiety and dizziness despite daily habituation, a feeling of pressure in the chest and fainting; another report, by contrast, describes the strain as barely anxiety-inducing.
The figures from strain descriptions, all without a named lab, contradict each other: one gives 15 % THC and 0 % CBD, another 24 to 28 % THC.
Crop King Seeds lists a feminized Blue Flame from the same parent combination. For this version the supplier states 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, 500 g/m² indoors and an outdoor harvest in mid-September, plus about 15 % THC and 1 % CBD. According to its description, the plants stay small indoors and outdoors and prefer a warm, sunny climate; for flavor, Crop King names sweet and citrus notes.
Blue Flame OG from Cannabiotix has a different lineage. Bred by Limited Trees Genetics, it goes back to Thicc Mint Cookies and Private Reserve OG; according to the producer, it was originally a stunted mutant from this cross. Cannabiotix classes it as an indica and states 30 to 34 % THC and 2.6 to 3.0 % total terpenes, led by myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene. At the Emerald Cup 2023, Blue Flame OG took 7th place in the Indoor Flower category; a hydrocarbon extract of the strain from Cannabiotix reached 2nd place among solvent concentrates in the Hydro-Carbon Liquid subcategory.
