White Walker Kush

DNA Genetics combined one cutting from the Netherlands and one from California to create White Walker Kush. According to the breeder, the mother is the Ingemar cut of White Widow, which has been maintained in a Dutch mother plant room since 1988, and the father is a Californian cut of Skywalker Kush. DNA Genetics lists the F1 hybrid at 60 % sativa and 40 % indica; the names White Walker and Whitewalker are also in use.

Genetics and Origin:

DNA Genetics names the father as Skywalker Kush, while other strain descriptions give only Skywalker. A pedigree overview assigns it to the Skywalker Kush by Reserva Privada, an S1 of Skywalker OG. For that line itself, 2 readings are in circulation: Skywalker x OG Kush according to its description and, citing a DNA Genetics representative, the Californian cutting Skywalker OG crossed with OG #18. On the mother's side, the same overview points to the White Widow by De Sjamaan from Brazil Sativa and India Indica, not explicitly to the Ingemar cut.

One strain description credits White Walker Kush with 1st place for the best indica flower at the High Times Cannabis Cup 2013. However, the winners' lists of the 2013 Cup in Amsterdam show Whitewalker OG by Gold Coast Extracts in 1st place in the Seed Company Indica category, a different strain described as a descendant of SFV OG Kush.

As a parent, White Walker Kush has gone into Purple Walker Kush by Prana Seeds and White Walker Cheese by JustFeminized, the latter a cross with Cheese.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Seeds of White Walker Kush are documented only from DNA Genetics. The breeder gives 8 to 9 weeks of flowering and a yield of 450 to 550 g/m²; according to the available information, feminized seeds never existed. Under the shortened name White Walker, other breeders list strains with their own pedigree: Holy Seeds Bank a feminized cross of (Northern Lights x Chronic) x Northern Lights with 60 to 65 days of flowering and 80 % indica share, Green Wolf Genetics a cross of Khaleesi Breath and Pure Michigan F2 with about 60 days of flowering.

Cultivation:

DNA Genetics describes fast growth in the vegetative phase, a strong surge after the switch to 12/12 and heavily frosted flowers with plenty of resin, which the breeder highlights for extract production. The breeder rates the yield as above average. Among the known phenotypes, DNA Genetics names compact, indica-dominant forms; with selection, the flavor of Skywalker Kush can be combined with the bud structure and weight of White Widow.

Other strain descriptions rate cultivation as moderately difficult. One of them gives about 150 cm indoors and 200 cm or more outdoors for untrained plants, as well as an outdoor harvest in October; another gives plants over 70 inches and 8 to 10 weeks of flowering. One grower found the strain uncomplicated but slow and harvested dense flowers on long colas. The flowers were also dense and compact in press reviews, once dark in color with burgundy hairs.

Aroma and Flavor:

For the scent, strain descriptions name earthy, citrus and peppery notes, plus herbs and wood, another chestnut and nut; in flavor, pine, sage and sweetness are listed. Consumers report a broader range, from floral-sweet with berries through pine and juniper to asphalt, tar, diesel and mint, as well as incense, hay and a smell reminiscent of ammonia. A review from 2019 found hints of curry and peanut butter. Myrcene, limonene and caryophyllene are listed as dominant terpenes, with pinene added in one description.

Effects:

The user reports agree on euphoria, elevated mood, creativity and focus. They disagree on whether the strain is more stimulating or more sedating: some report energy, talkativeness and silliness, others marked sedation up to couch-lock, which some tie to the amount consumed. In several reports, a clear, stimulating phase is followed by strong physical relaxation.

Also mentioned are dry mouth, dry eyes and paranoia, and in individual reports dizziness, shakiness and heightened sensitivity to noise. One strain description mentions headache and anxiety at higher amounts.

THC and CBD Content:

Strain descriptions give 21 to 22 % THC, one of them an additional 1 % CBG. Reviews of retail flower cited a value of 21.5 % THC and 0.2 % CBD in 2018, and one of 22.1 % THC and 0.06 % CBD in 2019. The testing lab is not named in either case; the values refer to individual batches and vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
