According to the Humboldt Seed Organization, outdoor plants of Blueberry Headband reach around 3 m in height, and indoors the plants also gain considerable height once flowering begins. The name covers 2 breeding lines with different pedigrees: the Humboldt Seed Organization crossed Blueberry with 707 Headband, while Emerald Triangle Seeds combines '76 Blueberry, Emerald OG, Cali Sour D and Pre-'98 Bubba Kush in one line.
Cultivation:
For its version, Emerald Triangle Seeds describes strong vegetative growth, tightly spaced internodes and long colas; the plants are said to grow tall and lanky and to resist mold and powdery mildew. Two indoor reports on this line give 63 and 67 days of flowering. In one, the plant grew from about 35 cm at the start of flowering to 100 cm; in the other it formed a stretched fir-tree shape, needed plenty of space upward as well as supports, and trained well in a SCROG. The same report rates the plants as prone to mold, unlike the breeder.
For the Humboldt version, indoor reports record 63 days of flowering and growth from about 30 to 80 cm. They describe long, sturdy side branches, very firm buds and a good response to topping the main stem. Outdoors, one grower harvested about 2 weeks early because small larvae were eating into the buds; even branches close to the ground had set dense buds almost as large as the top bud.
On difficulty, the sources contradict each other: a product description of the Humboldt version rates the strain as easy, while 2 grow profiles place it more with experienced growers. Two reports got by with little fertilizer, one records a high demand; 2 reports describe the plants as tolerant of over- and underfeeding.
Versions from Different Breeders:
The Humboldt Seed Organization states 70 % indica and 30 % sativa for its feminized cross, 65 to 70 days of flowering and an outdoor harvest in mid-October. It gives the yield as 450 to 600 g/m² indoors and 1000 to 4000 g per plant outdoors, the THC content as 19 to 23 % and the CBD content as 0.1 %. Other descriptions of this version differ on flowering time, citing 8 weeks with a harvest in early October, 65 to 75 days or 10 to 11 weeks.
According to breeder information, Emerald Triangle Seeds lists its likewise feminized line as a hybrid with 50 % each of indica and sativa, around 63 days of flowering and harvest readiness in early October, and calls it very high-yielding.
Genetics and Origin:
General strain descriptions simply list Blueberry Headband as a cross of Headband and Blueberry. Some pedigree charts, by contrast, show Blueberry and Pre-98 Bubba Kush as parents, picking up 2 components of the Emerald Triangle line.
Emerald Triangle Seeds has used its own version in further breeding: Blueberry Headband and Sweet Tooth produced Cotton Candy Cane, and Blueberry Gelato and Huckleberry are listed as further crosses with this line.
Aroma and Flavor:
Sweet blueberry forms the core in the descriptions of both versions. The Humboldt Seed Organization adds sharp, spicy tones and aniseed, and the breeder's page also mentions licorice, citrus and wood depending on the phenotype. For the Emerald Triangle line, the breeder describes strong diesel notes over sweet berry and a peppery bite, which it attributes to Pre-'98 Bubba. Grow reports mention earth and diesel, once a pungent note reminiscent of alcohol, another time strong lemon with a sweet aftertaste. Reviews of extracts name citrus, pine and floral notes.
Effects:
The Humboldt Seed Organization describes an initially stimulating head effect that shifts into physical relaxation. Consumption reports mention euphoria, elevated mood, silliness and relaxation; some found the strain sociable and talkative, others dampening, with tiredness and yawning. Among growers, one report describes the effect as invigorating, one as strong and long-lasting, another as fading after 10 to 15 minutes. Side effects named are dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness; one report mentions pressure behind the eyes.
THC and CBD Content:
Besides the breeder figure from the Humboldt Seed Organization, one strain description gives 15 % THC and 1 % CBG. A producer states 19 % THC and less than 1 % CBD for its flowers, and another product listing gives 17.78 % THCA and 2.80 % total terpenes; the lab that did the measuring is not named in either case. Values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Terpinolene is listed first in several profiles, followed by ocimene and pinene in one strain description, and by caryophyllene and humulene for one producer. A concentrate with 9.7 % total terpenes, by contrast, showed alpha-pinene at 1.4 % and caryophyllene at 1.2 % as its strongest terpenes.
