Cherry Pie × Sundae Driver; according to a strain overview only feminized, suitable for indoor and outdoor. Another strain description attributes the same cross to a breeder referred to as Derrick Green Dragon.
Cherry On Top
Cherry On Top is a cross of Cherry Pie and Sundae Driver from Cannarado Genetics; an autoflower from Mephisto Genetics and a GMO line carry the same name.
Cherry On Top comes from the breeding program of Cannarado Genetics and is a cross of the clone-only variety Cherry Pie with Sundae Driver, a strain from the same breeder. Several strain descriptions list it this way; another attributes the cross to a breeder referred to as Derrick Green Dragon, who is said to have won the Dope Cup 4 times. Two other lines circulate under the name, an autoflower from Mephisto Genetics and a line from Grape Pie and GMO, each with a different pedigree.
Genetics and Origin:
According to a pedigree overview, Cherry Pie traces back to Durban Poison and Grand Daddy Purple. Sundae Driver combines Fruity Pebbles OG from Alien Genetics with Grape Pie. One strain description classes Cherry On Top as a balanced hybrid with 50 % indica and 50 % sativa, while a user report attributes the effects more to an indica. Strain overviews list the Cannarado version as feminized seeds and describe it as suitable for indoor and outdoor growing.
Bask Triangle Farms used the Cannarado strain as a parent of Cherrizozki, a cross with Izozki whose aroma the strain description gives as cherries, gas and cream.
Aroma and Flavor:
Cherry is at the center of the descriptions of the Cannarado cross, accompanied by berries, sweet and creamy fruit notes and a spicy, earthy base. Consumers draw comparisons to maraschino cherries and cherry cupcakes, and individual reports mention herbal tea, floral tones or pine. One report falls outside the pattern: the smoke tasted of cigar there and immediately irritated the throat. Visually, consumers describe sticky, partly reddish-purple flowers with plenty of kief.
Effects:
The common denominator of the user reports is relaxation, elevated mood and euphoria, partly followed by sleepiness and hunger; some describe being stuck on the couch outright. Others find the strain clearly more alert, with a creative and silly mood, yet productive and calm. One report mentions strong visual impressions and an effect lasting 8 hours, another increased desire and affection. As side effects, consumers list dry eyes, dry mouth, dizziness, restlessness and paranoid thoughts, in one case after using concentrates.
Which version the reports refer to often remains unclear. At least one concerns the line with GMO, although it gives the second parent as Grape Ape rather than Grape Pie.
THC Content:
One strain description gives an average of 28 to 31 % THC for the Cannarado cross. Values read from packaging that consumers cite in their reports range from 22 to 31 % THC; here too it is not always clear which version is meant.
Lab Results:
Published measurements come from the line from Grape Pie and GMO: a producer lists them for 2 batches of medical flower from Florida. One of them measured 19.7 % THC and 0.09 % CBD, a single measurement for each of the two cannabinoids. The two batches give total terpene content as 1.52 and 2.38 %, though such values vary with batch, cultivation and phenotype. In both, myrcene leads with 0.84 and 1.31 % respectively, followed by caryophyllene with 0.27 and 0.31 % respectively, then linalool and limonene. For the Cannarado cross, a strain description names myrcene, caryophyllene and humulene as dominant terpenes.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Mephisto Genetics releases an F1 feminized autoflower under the name, from Schoolyard Crush and Gelato #33, as a limited edition that, according to the breeder, was tested by testers from the community but not on a large scale. A strain overview lists Gelauto N°33 instead of Gelato #33 as a parent. The breeder states 55 % indica and 45 % sativa and describes a vigorous, upright plant with tall colas on all shoots that grew without complications and responded well to nutrient feeding. In its description the aroma is dominated by sweet-and-sour notes, orange cream ice cream and spicy citrus fruit, with pineapple, lemon and watermelon added on the dry pull. Mephisto describes the effect as uplifting and not sedating.
The US company that carries the line from Grape Pie and GMO classes it as an indica and describes it with a skunky, fruity aroma and a deeply relaxing effect; as main terpenes it names myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene. It shares Grape Pie with the Cannarado pedigree, where it enters via Sundae Driver.
