also known as Sunday Driver
Sundae Driver crosses Fruity Pebbles OG with Grape Pie, comes from Cannarado Genetics in Colorado and took 2nd place at 2 High Times Cannabis Cups in 2019.
Sundae Driver took 2nd place at 2 High Times Cannabis Cups in 2019, entered each time by a different producer: at the SoCal Cannabis Cup in the Sun-grown Flower category and at the Oregon Cannabis Cup in the Hybrid Flower category. The cross of Fruity Pebbles OG and Grape Pie comes from Cannarado Genetics in Colorado and became known through the Jungle Boys selections.
A more recent title relates to a seed version. According to its own statement, Royal Queen Seeds won the Sativa category at the HomeGrown Cup 2025 with its feminized Sundae Driver, even though the breeder itself lists the strain as 50 % indica and 50 % sativa.
A pedigree overview traces Fruity Pebbles OG back to Green Ribbon, Granddaddy Purple and Tahoe Alien, and Grape Pie to Cherry Pie and Grape Stomper. The spelling Sunday Driver is also common.
When the cross was made is not clear. Several strain descriptions give 2018. In an interview published by High Times in November 2017, however, the breeder already recounts having sent Sundae Driver and Pie Hoe to Jungle Boys right after the first crosses, where the seeds were screened for phenotypes in large quantities. According to one strain description, Cannarado itself released the strain only as regular seed. That description notes a slight indica dominance for this line, while other descriptions list Sundae Driver as a balanced hybrid.
The strain is widely used as a parent; a pedigree overview counts 103 direct crosses. Cannarado combined it with Banana OG to make Banana Sundae and with Biscotti to make Biscotti Sundae; the backcross Sundae Driver BX was made with Biscotti Sundae. Cherry Driver, a cross with Frosted Cherry Cookies, comes from Relentless Genetics.
Grape and creamy sweetness are at the center of the descriptions, alongside which vanilla, berries, chocolate, citrus and earthy tones are mentioned. Royal Queen Seeds describes its own version as candy-sweet with a grape and berry aroma, underlaid by earth and spiced vanilla. Depending on the phenotype, one strain description says either wine grape or tropical fruit with the sweetness of breakfast cereal comes to the fore. Another source describes an undertone of gasoline when the buds are broken apart. Growers also mention cherry and orange notes, and some consumers find the taste too sweet. Strain descriptions name limonene and caryophyllene as dominant terpenes, one of them additionally myrcene, another linalool and humulene.
Consumers describe an elevated, often giggly mood together with physical relaxation. Individual reports highlight creativity, talkativeness or focus, others a stimulating note. Several reports say the strain is not strongly sedating; some consumers, by contrast, report tiredness as the effect fades. Dry mouth, dizziness and nervousness are named as side effects, and one report also mentions persistent headaches.
For the original Cannarado line, one strain description gives 15 to 18 % THC, while another gives 19 to 28 % for the strain name. The seed suppliers range between 20 and 24 % for their versions: Plantation Premium Seeds states 20 % for the autoflower version, Zamnesia 22 %, Royal Queen Seeds up to 23 % and MSNL up to 24 %. For CBD, Zamnesia gives 0 to 1 %, MSNL less than 1 % and Royal Queen Seeds a low content without a figure.
For the original line, strain descriptions give 8 weeks of flowering and cultivation indoors and outdoors. A compact, bushy habit with a strong main stem and medium internodes is described. The flowers turn out dense and resinous, with large, swollen calyxes. Their color ranges from light green to purple, which one source attributes to differences between phenotypes. SCROG and other training methods are considered well tolerated. For the backcross Sundae Driver BX, Cannarado states that it stretches less than the original.
Besides the regular seed from Cannarado, there are several feminized versions for which the suppliers list the same parents:
For the Royal Queen Seeds version, longer flowering times than the breeder's own are also circulating among retailers and in strain overviews.
Growers of the feminized versions report reliable germination and vigorous growth, in individual cases only after a slow start. They describe the flowers as compact and very sticky. One report considers the material not very productive for pressing rosin, another mentions phenotypes with a distinctly grape aroma.
