Project 4516 is a cross of Gelato 45 and Platinum Puff from Grandiflora Genetics of Oakland, and several breeders use it as a parent for new crosses.

Research as of 11/01/2026

In the terpene profile of Project 4516, β-caryophyllene and limonene lead according to the available measurements, although their order changes from source to source. The strain was bred by Grandiflora Genetics of Oakland, California, which crossed Gelato 45 with Platinum Puff. Several breeders have used it in further crosses, including Lit Farms and Blasted Genetics.

Lab Results:

For one individually published batch, whose lab is not named, 24.8 % THC and 0.07 % CBD are reported. Among the terpenes in this sample, β-caryophyllene led with 0.82 mg/g, ahead of limonene at 0.75 mg/g and linalool at 0.23 mg/g.

Averages from several lab certificates for products of this strain give a different result. There limonene ranks first at 0.91 %, followed by β-caryophyllene at 0.73 % and linalool at 0.55 %; myrcene reaches 0.36 % and humulene 0.21 %. The number of samples included is not stated. Another strain description names limonene, caryophyllene and pinene as the defining terpenes, while a producer lists caryophyllene, limonene and linalool. Readings of this kind vary with batch, cultivation and phenotype.

THC and CBD Content:

Outside the single measurement, the THC figures diverge: one strain description gives 23 %, another 27 to 30 %. For CBD, 0 % is stated; the measured batch was slightly above it at 0.07 %.

Genetics and Origin:

Platinum Puff, the second parent, traces back to Platinum OG and Grateful Puff. Strain descriptions classify Project 4516 as an indica-leaning hybrid, one of them putting the ratio at 60 % indica to 40 % sativa. The strain is listed as a feminized breed from Grandiflora Genetics. A description from New Jersey differs, attributing it to In House Genetics and naming Platinum Kush Breath instead of Platinum Puff as the crossing partner; the other sources stay with Grandiflora and Platinum Puff.

The strain is documented several times as a parent. Lit Farms crossed it with The Soap to make Bubble Bath and also used it in Boston Cream Pie, Crepes and Cherry Lush. Blasted Genetics selected phenotypes and combined them with Ice Cream Mints to create 4516 Mints. Grandiflora used it for Blue 16 and Blue Soufle, Cookie Fam Genetics for Doggy Bagg.

Aroma and Flavor:

On the nose, sweet and sharp notes meet. Berries, candy, flowers and earth are named, in part also citrus and vanilla, alongside diesel, fuel, ammonia and a chemical tone. For flavor, one source describes a sweet, fruity character with a floral, earthy exhale, another a minty finish. One report, by contrast, found the smoke harsh and sour, with fuel and an undertone reminiscent of a cleaning agent. User reports mention earthy gas with floral sweetness in some cases and gas and pine in others.

Effects:

User reports name euphoria, elevated mood, giddiness and creativity, along with tingling and physical relaxation; the effect is described as strong in several reports. Strain descriptions disagree on classification. One describes a quick onset with head-focused euphoria that gives way to heavy relaxation of the whole body and calls the strain strongly sedating. Another rates it as uplifting. Dry mouth, dizziness and nervousness are listed as unwanted side effects, with shortness of breath added in one report.

Cultivation:

The strain is listed as suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation. Strain descriptions give a flowering time of 8 to 9 weeks. A California cutting nursery states 450 g/m² indoors and 500 g per plant outdoors and rates cultivation as moderately difficult.

On stretch after the start of flowering, the figures differ: one description gives 50 to 80 %, while the cutting nursery indicates roughly a doubling in height and recommends early topping as well as a net or SCROG. Both sources describe dense flowers and point to botrytis; one gives a guideline of humidity below 45 % in the last 3 weeks. According to the cutting nursery, the flowers turn deep purple to almost black from week 6. Reports on finished flowers mention purple and light green tones, also orange.
