Gelato 45

also known as Gelato #45, Michael Jordan, G45

Indica-dominantTHC-dominant

Gelato 45 is a numbered selection from Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies with a scent of mint chocolate and berries; whether Sherbinski acknowledges it is disputed.

Research as of 09/28/2026

Helvetic Seeds traces the scent of Gelato 45 back to its parent strains: Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies is said to contribute mint chocolate, while Sunset Sherbet is said to bring sweet berries and a skunky citrus note. The strain belongs to the numbered selections of the Gelato line from the San Francisco Bay Area and carries the nickname Michael Jordan. Whether Mario Guzman, known as Sherbinski, the breeder of Gelato, selected this number himself is disputed.

Aroma and Flavor:

Barney's Farm describes a similar picture: ice cream with mint chocolate and fruity berries in the scent, earthy pine and citrus with a skunky undertone in the flavor. Tasting notes from a US dispensary record pine, berries and sweet skunk, along with hints of sorbet and powdered sugar. Other strain descriptions add pepper, menthol and earth, or highlight a creamy sweetness with sour lemon and woody pine. A user report also describes the peppery impression.

Genetics and Origin:

Gelato traces back to a cross of Sunset Sherbet with Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. A 2017 profile attributes it to Sherbinski and Jigga, one of the founders of the Cookie Fam, and dates it to roughly 3 years earlier. Sunset Sherbet reportedly arose by chance when a Pink Panties male pollinated the Thin Mint plants. Of around 200 seeds, about 25 phenotypes made the shortlist; their numbers were simply the labels on the pots.

A 2021 listing names Gelato #45 with the nickname Michael Jordan alongside #25 (Barry Bonds) and #33 (Larry Bird). A 2024 report, however, lists 6 selections acknowledged by Guzman, #25, #33, #41, #43, #47 and #49, and notes that he does not include Gelato 45 among them. Against this stands the fact that Sensi Seeds, together with Sherbinskis, developed the autoflowering strain Gelauto Kush Automatic, whose lineage links Master Kush with Gelauto #41 and Gelauto #45; Sensi Seeds describes both as autoflowering versions of Guzman's Gelato lines. A 2021 grower discussion already stated that little was known about number 45.

Lab Results:

For an outdoor batch, a US producer published test results without naming the laboratory. The single measurement yielded 20.66 % THCA and a calculated 18.29 % total THC, CBD was not detectable; the ratio marks the batch as THC-dominant. Among the terpenes, β-caryophyllene led with 1.283 %, followed by limonene at 0.445 % and α-humulene at 0.218 %. Myrcene (0.132 %) and linalool (0.108 %) played a smaller role. The same order of caryophyllene, limonene and humulene is given by 2 strain descriptions; another states 19.9 % THC and 0.1 % CBD.

Effects:

User reports describe an uplifted mood with euphoria and fits of laughter, combined with physical relaxation that, in one report, extended into the arms and legs. Barney's Farm characterizes the effect similarly, as euphoric and relaxing. Consumers disagree on whether the strain tends to make them alert or tired: some mention focus, creativity and energy, while others describe a fatigue that left them unable to work. Dry mouth, dizziness and headache are named as accompanying effects.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Feminized seeds are offered by Barney's Farm, Helvetic Seeds, Blimburn Seeds and BSB Genetics, and their figures diverge considerably. Barney's Farm states 60 % indica, 65 to 70 days of flowering and up to 30 % THC, indoor height of 100 to 120 cm and 650 to 750 g/m², outdoor 180 to 250 cm and 1500 to 2000 g per plant with harvest in the 1st to 2nd week of October. Blimburn Seeds likewise states 60 % indica, along with 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, 22 to 24 % THC and 600 to 700 g/m². BSB Genetics lists its version as sativa-dominant with 8 to 10 weeks, 27 % THC and 500 to 550 g/m².

Helvetic Seeds describes Gelato 45 as a former clone-only strain, outlines a sativa-leaning and a balanced phenotype with notably large calyxes, and states indoor yields above 500 g/m². Soloud Genetics offers an S1 line with the nickname Michael Jordan.

Cultivation:

Breeders describe Gelato 45 as robust and easy to grow: Barney's Farm considers the strain adaptable to many growing techniques, while Helvetic Seeds and Blimburn Seeds rate it as suitable for beginners. According to Barney's Farm, the lime to olive green foliage turns purple, red and orange during flowering, and the buds are said to be dense and round. A test grow by a trade magazine with this version confirmed purple leaves and thick, rounded, heavily resinous buds; the plant reached 51 cm and was harvested after 70 days of flowering. Buds ready for harvest are described as dark green with blue to purple tones and orange hairs.
