Strong branching on the side shoots and indoor yields of 700 to 800 g/m²: that is how Barney's Farm outlines the growing traits of Glookies, a cross of Gorilla Glue and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies that the breeder lists in its Cali Collection. The strain is considered indica-dominant, with Barney's Farm stating 70 % Indica and 30 % Sativa. A review of flowers from Oklahoma documents cultivation for summer 2019, and the strain appears in the breeder's 2020 seed catalog.
Cultivation:
For indoor cultivation, Barney's Farm gives 60 to 70 days of flowering and a final height of 100 to 120 cm. Outdoors the plant is said to reach 120 to 180 cm, ripen in the 1st or 2nd week of October and yield 2000 to 3000 g per plant. The breeder's seed is feminized and flowers photoperiodically.
Ratings of difficulty differ. One strain description lists the Barney's Farm version as easy to cultivate and rates its resistance to mold, powdery mildew, cold and spider mites as high, while another classes it as moderately difficult. Blimburn Seeds describes very firm buds densely covered in trichomes for its line and recommends training in a SCROG net; in the breeder's growing guide, LST and supports for the heavy buds are added. The 2019 review likewise highlights the dense trichome coverage, and the flowers of that batch were predominantly purple.
Grow reports describe vigorous, fast growth with heavy resin production. Critical voices concern the germination rate of individual seed batches.
Genetics and Origin:
Barney's Farm names Gorilla Glue and the Thin Mint selection of Girl Scout Cookies as parents; other strain descriptions list them as GG4 and Thin Mints. The Gorilla Glue line is attributed to GG Genetics, and Thin Mint Cookies is considered a clone-only strain. Some descriptions put the Indica share higher than the breeder does, at 80 %.
Glookies itself has since entered new breeding work. The KushBrothers Seeds crossed it with Cookies & Cream to make Glookies & Cream, Gator's Garden crossed it with Gas Mac to make Maclookies, and it also appears in the pedigree of Strawberry Danish by Evolve Genetics.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Blimburn Seeds lists a reproduction crossed from plants of the Barney's Farm line. For it, the breeder states 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, up to 800 g/m² indoors, 600 to 800 g per plant outdoors and 25 % THC; the same breeder's growing guide gives a shorter flowering time and lower yields. From the Barney's Farm line and a ruderalis, Blimburn Seeds also created Glookies Auto, ready to harvest from 10 weeks after germination according to the breeder.
Medusa Seed Bank points to Barney's Farm as the origin and states 53 to 60 days of flowering and 24 to 29 % THC for its feminized version. Glookiez by The Bakery Genetics is a separate strain: it descends from GG#4 and London Cookies, exists as regular seed and, according to the breeder, flowers for 63 days.
THC and CBD Content:
The figures from Barney's Farm differ depending on the publication: the 2020 catalog gives 25 % THC and 1 % CBD, the current strain page 32 % THC. Other strain descriptions put the THC content considerably lower at 15 to 19 % and in some cases list around 1 % CBG.
Aroma and Flavor:
For flavor, Barney's Farm names hints of Sour Diesel, lime and walnut, and describes the aroma as nutty with a lime note. Other strain descriptions speak of a sweet, earthy scent and a nutty, spicy taste with a diesel note, in some cases with chocolate, while Blimburn Seeds puts citrus and diesel first. β-Caryophyllene is listed as the predominant terpene ahead of limonene; Blimburn Seeds sees limonene in first place for its version.
Some consumers describe a pungent, ammonia-like smell that lingers in the room for a long time and that some find unpleasant. Others describe a chemical taste with diesel and a hint of vanilla, or notes of pastry and chocolate.
Effects:
Barney's Farm speaks of a relaxing and at the same time energizing effect. User reports repeatedly mention relaxation, giddiness, a euphoric mood and food cravings. The reports disagree on whether the strain tends to make people tired: several consumers found it sleep-inducing and body-focused, others creative and energetic. The 2019 review describes initial nervousness that turned into a strong effect lasting several hours. Dry mouth, dry eyes, headaches after larger amounts and a noticeable slowing of thought are mentioned as side effects, and in one strain description also paranoid feelings.
