Gorilla Glue Gelato is a cross of Gorilla Glue #4 (GG4) and Gelato, also listed as Gelato Glue or GG Gelato; another name on record is Original Glue Gelato. Who first created the cross cannot be established. One strain description names Barney's Farm as the breeder, others are silent on this, and a feminized version called Gelato Glue comes from Native Sun Genetics.
Genetics and Origin:
Which Gelato line was crossed in is left open in the descriptions. Native Sun Genetics names GG#4 as the mother and Gelato as the father for its Gelato Glue and states an indica share of 85 %. On this figure, though, the sources contradict each other. One strain description also gives 85 % in the running text, but 55 % in the data sheet on the same page, while another lists the strain as a balanced hybrid with equal shares.
Aroma and Flavor:
Several descriptions of the scent repeat chocolate, diesel and an earthy base note. Berries, pine and a spicy sharpness are added, which one source classifies as chemical. For the flavor, cocoa, citrus fruits and a fruity sweetness are named, one description mentions wood with a hint of apple. A grow report on the autoflower version from Barney's Farm compared the smell to industrial glue.
For the terpene profile, 3 strain descriptions, including a compilation of lab results, place beta-caryophyllene first and limonene second. Further terpenes listed there are myrcene, linalool and humulene. Another description puts myrcene first.
Effects:
Users describe an onset with an elevated, euphoric mood that sometimes turns into giggliness or creative thoughts, followed by physical relaxation. Sleepiness is described repeatedly, some reports speak of a strong intoxication, another instead of focus. Dizziness, heavy eyelids and a sedating effect are named as unwanted accompanying effects, along with hunger.
THC Content:
One strain description gives an average THC content of 26 to 28 % for Gelato Glue, other descriptions set the value noticeably lower. No published lab certificates with a named lab were found for the strain. For the autoflower version, Barney's Farm states 26 %.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Native Sun Genetics lists Gelato Glue as a feminized strain with a flowering time of 9 weeks, high yield and medium growth height. According to this description, the plant forms a bush with several main stems. As conditions, the breeder names 18 to 28 °C and a humidity of 40 to 60 %.
Under the slightly different name Glue Gelato Auto, Barney's Farm sells an autoflowering cross of Gorilla Glue, Gelato and BF Super Auto #1 with a 60 % indica share. According to the breeder, 65 to 70 days pass from seed to harvest. Indoors, Barney's Farm states 450 to 500 g/m² at a height of 90 to 120 cm, outdoors 130 to 200 g per plant at 100 to 130 cm.
Community Experiences:
The available grow reports both concern the autoflower version. In one indoor grow, the plant flowered for 44 days and stretched from 11 to about 48 cm in the process. It grew bushy with numerous side shoots, formed very firm, compact buds with a good bud-to-leaf ratio and needed support during flowering. According to this report, it tolerated topping of the main stem poorly.
A second report reaches the opposite result with training: the plant was topped above the 5th node and tied down with LST, responding well to it. It branched strongly and was ready for harvest after 10 weeks. The grower rated it as a light feeder; overly generous fertilizing in his run led to leaf burn and a calcium deficiency, and some buds showed foxtailing at the end.
