Guava Gelato

also known as White Guava Gelato

BalancedTHC-dominant
Indica 50 %Sativa 50 %

Guava Gelato is regarded as a tropical-scented phenotype from Sherbinskis' Gelato line; other breeders sell strains with their own lineage under the same name.

Research as of 09/27/2026

Gelato originated in San Francisco, where Mr. Sherbinski and Jigga crossed Sunset Sherbert with Thin Mint Cookies, initially labeling the selected plants only with the numbers of their grow pots, as Sherbinski described in an interview. According to several strain descriptions, this material is the source of Guava Gelato, a phenotype with a tropical scent. One producer that grows the strain names Sherbinski as the one who developed and propagated it. Other breeders sell strains with a different lineage under the same name.

Genetics and Origin:

Accounts of the lineage are not consistent. Several strain descriptions and one consumer review list Guava Gelato as a Gelato phenotype, genetically a descendant of Sunset Sherbert and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Others name Guava and Gelato as the parents without specifying the Guava line further. Sherbinskis itself presents Bacio, Mochi, Acai Berry, and Gello as the Gelato family on its own website; Guava Gelato is absent from this selection. Classifications of the type range from a balanced hybrid with 50 % indica and 50 % sativa to a predominantly indica-leaning strain.

As a parent, Guava Gelato appears in several more recent crosses. Karma Genetics combined it with Pink Runtz to create Guava Runtz, Clearwater Genetics with DevilDriver to create Honey Dew, and NBG Seed Co. with Fillmore Slim to create Pimp Fruit. For Fried Banana, Cookie Fam Genetics crossed it with Gelato #41 and backcrossed the result onto Gelato #41 again.

Aroma and Flavor:

The flowers are described as dense and compact, mint green with dark purple sections and orange pistils; because of the heavy resin coverage, one description also calls the strain White Guava Gelato.

In aroma, tropical fruit sits over a sweet, creamy base. Guava and tart pineapple are mentioned, along with citrus to grapefruit, vanilla, hops, and earth, occasionally a hint of gas; a comparison to piña colada also appears. One review compared the smell to a tropically flavored cigarillo. Consumers describe a sweet, citrusy smell and smooth smoke, though one tasted more grass. A grower who cultivated 2 seeds under this name found barely any guava: by this account, the plants tasted artificially sweet, similar to a blueberry candy.

Effects:

A rapid onset is reported. Mood lifts, and underneath it a physical relaxation spreads that can grow heavy in the limbs. Users describe themselves as euphoric, cheerful, giggly, talkative, or aroused. There is disagreement about how strongly the strain sedates: some report staying focused and able to work, while others describe a melting body sensation and sleepiness. One consumer review emphasizes the high potency. Reported side effects include dry eyes and dry mouth, along with paranoia.

Lab Results:

Lab certificates from New York exist for 5 flower samples from different brands, tested in 2025 and 2026 by Kaycha Labs and ACT Labs. The median values were 29.0 % THC, 0.12 % CBD, and 1.72 % total terpenes. Caryophyllene leads the terpene profile, followed by limonene, linalool, and humulene. One sample's profile matched a different strain more closely; values otherwise vary by batch, cultivation, and phenotype. For vape products under this name, the New York tests found limonene ahead of caryophyllene. Strain descriptions cite caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene as the dominant terpenes.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Equilibrium Genetics released its own Guava Gelato: the mother is Guava OG from Chem Dog and Tres Dog, the father Melted Gelato from Gelato 33 and Glue Bx3. According to the breeder, the indica-dominant strain flowers for 8.5 to 9.5 weeks and finishes outdoors by mid-October; for aroma, Equilibrium Genetics cites sharp citrus notes, gas, and berries. It is now listed in the archive on the breeder's site.

Crop King Seeds offers feminized seeds under this name, listing only the Gelato line as lineage, along with 16 % THC, 1 % CBD, and 8 to 9 weeks of flowering.

Green House Seeds crossed an autoflowering Gelato #41 with a Guava selection and calls the result Guava x Gelato 41 Auto. The breeder states 70 % indica, 20 % sativa, and 10 % ruderalis, describing a short, well-branched plant. Indoors, Green House Seeds cites 7 to 8 weeks of flowering, a height of 100 to 130 cm, and up to 500 g/m²; outdoors, 100 to 120 cm and 80 to 100 g per plant.
