Butter, vanilla and a sweetness like the milk left at the bottom of a bowl of sugared breakfast cereal: that is the impression the name of Cereal Milk alludes to, and strain descriptions convey it the same way. The hybrid was bred by Powerzzzup Genetics in collaboration with the Cookies brand, from Y Life and Snowman, whose lines both trace back to Girl Scout Cookies.
Aroma and Flavor:
Besides butter and vanilla, descriptions list fruity berry notes, a slightly herbal finish and a hint of fuel. User reports mainly confirm the creamy, milky character, and individual consumers add cinnamon or a cheesy aftertaste. A review from 2020 was harsher, picking up sun-warmed berries, skunk and cheese on the nose and sour milk and oats in the flavor. Some reports miss the expected fruit entirely and describe an ordinary cannabis taste.
As the leading terpenes, strain descriptions consistently name caryophyllene and limonene; in third place, depending on the source, are humulene, myrcene or linalool.
Genetics and Origin:
Y Life is a cross of Girl Scout Cookies and Cherry Pie, Snowman a sativa-leaning phenotype from the Cookies line. The same combination also produced Gary Payton, which Powerzzzup likewise released together with Cookies; one strain description classes Cereal Milk as a sister phenotype from the same selection and gives 2019 as the year of release. The names Milk and Cereal Milk #2 also circulate.
Cereal Milk appears as a parent in several newer crosses, among them Milk'D by Exotic Genetix from Milk & Cookies and a reversed Cereal Milk, and Viking Milk by Elev8 Seeds from Dutch Crunch and Cereal Milk.
Effects:
In user reports, physical relaxation combines with an uplifted, often giggly mood. Talkativeness, concentration, creativity and appetite are also mentioned, and several reports mention heightened arousal as well. Some consumers say the effect builds slowly and only sets in fully after a while; others had a fast, strong onset. Opinions on potency are just as divided, ranging from mild to very strong. In one review the strain felt hazy and poorly focused, and in another report a stimulating phase was followed by marked tiredness. Side effects reported are dry eyes and dry mouth, occasionally also dizziness, headache, nervousness and amplified ringing in the ears.
THC and CBD Content:
Strain descriptions give 22 to 25 % THC for Cereal Milk. Batches of medical flowers of this strain from Canadian cultivation were listed in Germany at 22, 24 and 26 % THC with 1 % CBD each; such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype. A single figure from California was higher: for a batch reviewed in 2020, the reviewer gave 29.17 % THC and 2 % CBD without naming a lab.
Cultivation:
One cultivation description portrays tall plants that thrive mainly indoors and need a warm, dry climate outdoors; outdoor harvest there falls in early to mid October. Several sources describe dense, resinous flowers with heavy trichome coverage. According to Botafarm California, their color ranges from light green to lavender, and one reviewer found dark purple and green flowers.
Versions from Different Breeders:
One strain description, which assigns the original line to Cookie Fam Genetics, gives around 10 weeks of flowering under artificial light and feminized seeds only. Versions from several breeders also exist, with figures that sometimes differ considerably:
- Royal Queen Seeds: feminized, 60 % sativa, 23 % THC, 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, 450 to 500 g/m² indoors and 625 to 675 g per plant outdoors, 80 to 140 cm tall indoors and 160 to 200 cm outdoors, aroma of vanilla and blueberry.
- Botafarm California: feminized S1 version, 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, 500 to 600 g/m² indoors and 400 to 1,000 g per plant outdoors at a maximum height of 2 m, outdoor harvest in October, 15 to 25 % THC.
- MSNL Seeds: feminized, 60 % indica, 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, 400 to 500 g/m² indoors, 100 to 180 cm tall, outdoor harvest in mid October, up to 24 % THC and up to 2 % CBD.
- Atlas Seed: feminized, predominantly indica, 19 to 25 % THC.
- Premium Cultivars: feminized, stabilized by backcrossing according to its own statement, 25 % THC.
The ratio of sativa to indica also remains inconsistent outside the breeders' figures: several descriptions list Cereal Milk as a balanced hybrid at 50 % each, while medical flowers from Canada are classed partly as sativa-dominant, partly as indica-dominant.
