Tropicana Punch

For Tropicana Punch, Oni Seed Co drew on one of its own creations: the breeder crossed its Tropicanna Cookies with Purple Punch. The strain circulates with a single or a double n in the name and is also abbreviated as TPN. Oni Seed Co lists it as regular seed and has also backcrossed it to Tropicanna Cookies.

Genetics and Origin:

According to its own description, Oni Seed Co is a group of breeders, growers and hash makers, founded essentially by Harrrypalms and Oninoodles. Tropicanna Cookies also comes from this house. A Californian cutting supplier gives this parent line more precisely as Tropicana Cookies F2.

The backcross was released as Tropicanna Punch BX1: for it, Oni Seed Co paired Tropicanna Punch with Tropicanna Cookies F1.

Versions from Different Breeders:

The original version from Oni Seed Co is listed exclusively as regular seed and is considered suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation. Black Tuna offers its own selection under the name Tropicanna Punch #61, as an S1 from the selfing of this phenotype and feminized only. The breeder gives roughly 63 days of flowering and describes vigorous plants with large, sturdy leaflets in dark green, densely built flowers and a flavor of grape with a chemical edge. According to Black Tuna, recessive plants also appear in the seed batch, leaning more toward Tropicana Cookies or Purple Punch. The breeder classes its selection as predominantly sativa, while another strain description lists Tropicana Punch as a balanced hybrid.

Aroma and Flavor:

Oni Seed Co compares the flavor to red fruit punch concentrate and describes it as tart. Other strain descriptions name orange and passion fruit, tropical and berry notes, citrus, sweetness and a nutty note; cheese, cherry and strawberry appear occasionally. A detailed product review from 2024 found overripe raspberry, strawberry and cherry in the aroma alongside honey, grass and roasted peanut butter, with tobacco and cedarwood added when smoked.

β-Caryophyllene tops the terpene profile in 2 strain descriptions. One lists limonene and humulene after it, the other myrcene and limonene.

Effects:

Consumers describe a course in 2 phases. At the start the strain is stimulating, with elevated mood, talkativeness, creativity and focus described, at times giggling as well. Later a tingling in the body and relaxation follow, which can turn into a heavy, mentally sluggish phase. Oni Seed Co itself classes the effect as relaxing to sedating, whereas another strain description lists it as predominantly energizing. When the effect sets in is reported differently: some feel it immediately, others only after several puffs. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are named as unwanted effects, and one report also mentions pressure in the forehead area.

THC Content:

Strain descriptions give THC contents between 18 and 26 %. For a flower batch reviewed in Illinois in 2024, 30.041 % THCA and 0.444 % THC were reported; this is a single figure, and the review does not name the lab that measured it.

Cultivation:

The Californian cutting supplier gives 8 to 10 weeks of flowering and a medium stretch. According to its information, the strain tolerates topping, LST, supercropping and SCROG, and turns deep purple in cool nights.

Oni Seed Co also describes dark purple flowers densely covered in trichomes. Another strain description highlights the high resin coverage and dense structure, therefore rates the flowers as suitable for extracts with and without solvents, and mentions calyxes that grow out foxtail-like. The batch reviewed in 2024 consisted of large, roundish, dense flowers with dark purple sugar leaves and strong orange hairs on an olive-green base.
