User reports on Tropicana Haze revolve around a stimulating effect. Consumers describe themselves as talkative and in good spirits, others highlight creativity and concentration, and several mention a clear head. Not every report fits this picture: one describes a heavy, rather body-centred effect, another anxiety during use. The cross of Skunk Valley Haze and Tropicanna Cookies was bred by Oni Seed Co, which offered it exclusively as regular seeds under the spelling Tropicanna Haze.

Genetics and Origin:

The mother plant Skunk Valley Haze goes back to Chem 91 and Tom Hill Haze; some sources specify the Chem 91 parent as the Skunk VA cut. The father was Tropicanna Cookies, a cross of GSC and Tangie. This strain is attributed to Harry Palms of Bloom Seed Co, while Oni Seed Co calls it the house's flagship strain in its own description. According to one strain description, an F2 generation of Tropicanna Cookies went into the cross.

Differing pedigrees also circulate. Under the alias Tropical Haze, Big Skunk × Haze and Haze × Tropicana Cookies are also named, each without a breeder. A US product page attributes the cross with an identical pedigree to Swamp Boy Seeds, but it is not listed in this breeder's strain directory. The classification varies as well: several descriptions list the strain as sativa-dominant, while one seed retailer gives a ratio of 50 to 50.

Aroma and Flavor:

Oni Seed Co explicitly distinguishes the Haze mother from traditional Haze lines. According to the breeder, it does not smell of sandalwood and incense but of skunk, citrus and hops; Tropicanna Cookies is said to add orange and cinnamon sugar. Sandalwood and incense, of all things, appear in a later strain description as aroma notes of the cross. Other descriptions mention mango, pineapple and orange with an undertone of blue cheese, and still others spicy, earthy notes, sour mango and pepper on the finish. User reports also mention a cheesy note alongside fruitiness. One strain description rates the aroma intensity as very strong.

Effects:

Some reports describe a delayed onset, with the effect only developing fully after a while. One report speaks of a floating feeling in the head, another combines mental clarity with a noticeable body effect. Individual consumers mention silliness or heightened arousal. Strain descriptions list dry mouth and dry eyes as side effects, as well as paranoia and anxiety, which matches one of the user reports.

THC Content:

One strain description gives 24 % THC and 2 % CBG. Values for individual batches listed on US product pages range from 23.2 % to 27.54 % THC. A batch of medical flowers from Pennsylvania was reported at 29.62 % THCA and 0.988 % total terpenes, with myrcene and caryophyllene named there as dominant terpenes. Lab and test date are not noted in any of these cases, and values vary with batch, cultivation and phenotype. The ranking of terpenes is also inconsistent: one strain description lists caryophyllene ahead of myrcene and ocimene, while others put myrcene first.

Cultivation:

According to Oni Seed Co, Tropicanna Haze varies more in phenotype than other strains from the breeder, and flowering time accordingly runs from 63 to 75 days. The breeder considers the longer-flowering plants the better ones but concedes that the shorter-flowering ones suit most growing environments better. One strain description, by contrast, gives a flat figure of around 63 days and lists the strain as suitable for indoor, outdoor and greenhouse.

Seed retailers rate the yield as high. One of them describes medium height with average stretch and mentions purple phenotypes; another strain description names dense flowers with violet-tinted resin coverage.
