Bruce Banner #3 is a cross of OG Kush and Strawberry Diesel from Colorado, for which High Times reported 28.35 % THC at the 2013 Cannabis Cup in Denver.

Research as of 11/05/2026

Grow reports differ widely on how much Bruce Banner #3 stretches after the start of flowering: in one indoor run a plant grew from about 125 to 150 cm, in another from about 20 to 150 cm. The reports agree, however, on hard, compact buds. In 2013, High Times reported 28.35 % THC at the Cannabis Cup in Denver for this cross of OG Kush and Strawberry Diesel from Colorado, the highest value measured at any of the magazine's cups up to that point. The following year the magazine put the strain in 9th place on its list of the 25 greatest strains of all time.

Community Experiences:

Where the reports give days, flowering indoors took 56 to 70 days; in one grow, individual phenotypes were harvested after 9 weeks, while a selected one was harvested only after 11. Between the extremes of stretch mentioned at the start lie reports of about 100 and 300 %. Growth habit ranges from fir-tree shaped through bushy with long side branches to a plant with few side branches and a pronounced main cola. In 2 reports the plants needed support during flowering.

One grower raised the nutrient solution during flowering to as much as 2200 ppm without problems, and an evaluation of two grows notes tolerance of fluctuating feeding. Another grower fed heavily, enriched the air with CO2 to 1600 ppm and harvested 650 g/m² from 5 plants in 19-liter pots. Several growers consider cultivation suitable for beginners, while another report and the breeders Zamnesia and MSNL rate it as moderately difficult. No fungal infestation occurred in the evaluation mentioned; one strain description calls the strain resistant to mold and pests.

Effects:

User reports describe a fast onset and a euphoric, creative mood with noticeable drive, in some cases also increased concentration. Two grow reports on seeds from Original Sensible Seeds deviate from this, describing a calm, meditative effect up to physical heaviness. Strain descriptions list dry mouth and dry eyes as side effects, along with headache, dizziness and anxious restlessness; user reports add an urge to cough and, in one case, paranoid thoughts.

Genetics and Origin:

Some strain descriptions name Dark Horse Genetics as the breeder, others Delta 9 Labs. According to an account based on statements by Dark Horse founder Jason Holck, Holck crossed Strawberry Diesel with Cold Creek Kush, a phenotype of LA OG, in the mid-2000s and presented the strain in 2008 at the Delta 9 Alternative Medicine dispensary in Denver. The cross produced the phenotypes #1, #3 and #5.

The mother is not consistently documented either: besides Cold Creek Kush, an OG Kush clone from 2004 is mentioned, and Original Sensible Seeds names Colorado Ghost OG for its own version. The father, Strawberry Diesel, comes from Reservoir Seeds and traces back to Strawberry Cough and Sour Diesel. One strain description puts the sativa share at 80 %. Dark Horse Genetics crossed Bruce Banner #3 again with Strawberry Diesel to produce Hulk Smash; the similarly named Bruce Banner 3.0 from the same breeder derives from Strawberry Diesel and a backcross of Bruce Banner 3.

Aroma and Flavor:

In the descriptions, diesel and sweetness form the core of the aroma, accompanied by earthy notes. Consumers perceive the strawberry of the paternal strain differently: one report describes kush with a slight hint of strawberry, while a grower found mainly earth and diesel in the harvest. Strain descriptions list caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene as the predominant terpenes.

THC and CBD Content:

Apart from the Cup value, strain descriptions give 20 to 25 % or 23 to 29 % THC. In a 2022 grow report, a grower states 18.57 % THC and less than 0.115 % CBD for the harvest, according to analysis.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Zamnesia gives 9 to 10 weeks of flowering for its feminized version, up to 400 g/m² indoors at 150 cm height, up to 900 g per plant outdoors, plus 27 % THC and 0 to 1 % CBD. MSNL states 8 to 10 weeks, 500 to 600 g/m², 180 to 220 cm height, up to 30 % THC and less than 1 % CBD. Original Sensible Seeds lists about 60 days of flowering, around 3 m height outdoors and over 28 to almost 30 % THC; the autoflower version from the same breeder, made from Bruce Banner #3 and a ruderalis, is said to reach 80 to 100 cm indoors and yield 500 g/m². For the line from Delta 9 Labs, 8 to 10 weeks of flowering are given.
