Anyone reading the user reports on Zkittlez OG finds a lot of agreement on the effects and little on aroma and flavor. Euphoria and a lifted mood come up repeatedly, whereas consumers disagree on whether the flowers smell more fruity or more like OG and how much flavor they have. No single uniform plant stands behind the name. It usually refers to a cross of The Original Z and OG Kush, while several breeders offer their own strains of the same name, in part with different parents.

Besides the euphoric basic mood shared by the reports read, the accounts diverge on the character of the effects. One report describes the strain as a heavy, body-focused indica and compares it with Grape Ape. Others find it relaxed but able to function, focused and alert, or energizing and sociable; giggling, tingling, creativity and arousal are each mentioned individually. Two reports stress the strength of the effects. As side effects, other strain descriptions list dry mouth and dry eyes.
Genetics and Origin:
Strain profiles list the cross under the short form Z OG, also ZOG, as a hybrid of OG Kush and The Original Z, the strain that became known as Zkittlez. Who created it is not recorded. A California producer that grows the strain indoors gives the genetics as Zkittlez x OG and the breeder as unknown.
Under the abbreviation ZOG, an indoor batch from this producer received a silver medal in the terpene category caryophyllene at the California State Fair Cannabis Awards 2022.
Lab Results:
SC Labs analyzed two flower samples from the same producer in 2022. Total THC was 34.4 % (SC Labs, 2022) and 29.1 % (SC Labs, 2022), total terpenes 3.55 % and 3.1 %. CBD was not detectable in either sample, and THCV reached 0.1 % at most. Values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
The producer names beta-caryophyllene as the leading terpene, followed by myrcene and limonene, which swapped places in the two batches; next come alpha-humulene, linalool and alpha-bisabolol. An evaluation of certificates of analysis for several products under the name Zkittlez OG gives a different ranking, with limonene at an average of 0.81 % ahead of beta-caryophyllene at 0.47 %, myrcene at 0.38 % and linalool at 0.30 %. Other strain descriptions give 20 % THC and 1 % CBG for Z OG and place caryophyllene first, followed by humulene and linalool.
Aroma and Flavor:
The producer describes the scent as berries, cake, candy, sugar and perfume. In other strain descriptions, berry, blueberry and pineapple appear for flavor; a further overview lists citrus, lemon and orange. The user reports range from a clear, bright scent with spicy herbal notes through fruity-floral tones to an OG-typical smell that fills a whole room. On flavor, one report finds the strain weak relative to its effects, another average, and a third highlights it.
Cultivation:
For the cross of OG Kush and The Original Z, the only cultivation data come from the California producer: it harvests indoors after 58 to 65 days and describes short internodes.
Versions from Different Breeders:
The most extensive breeder information exists for the autoflower from Barney's Farm, which is listed as Zkittlez OG Auto and, on one page of the breeder, as Original Z OG Auto. Barney's Farm gives the genetics as Original Z x OG Kush x BF Super Auto #1 and classifies it once as 50 % sativa and 50 % indica, elsewhere as indica-dominant. According to the breeder, the feminized seeds need 70 to 75 days from germination to harvest; another strain description gives 70 to 77 days. Barney's Farm states 24 % THC, indoors 550 to 650 g/m² at 80 to 100 cm in height and outdoors 280 to 350 g per plant at 100 to 130 cm. The breeder describes the scent as sweet, tropical, berry and skunky.
Xtreme Seeds Co. crosses Lemon Zkittlez with OG Kush Express Auto for its Zkittlez OG Auto. For this feminized autoflower, 60 to 65 days from germination, up to 18 % THC, 500 g/m² and 70 to 110 cm in height are stated, with citronella and citrus in the aroma, floral and spicy hints, and a diesel note beneath.
Nasha Genetics lists a feminized Zkittlez OG whose parents are given only tentatively as Zkittles x Hardcore OG. Stated are 70 % indica, 60 to 65 days of flowering and 22 to 26 % THC.
Purple Caper Seeds offers a Zkittlez OG from OGBX x Grape Zkittlez exclusively as regular seeds. The breeder considers it suitable for Sea of Green and light deprivation and describes an aroma of earthy herbs, fruit and cookie.
