Beta-caryophyllene at 1.01 %, ahead of limonene at 0.83 % and linalool at 0.55 %: that is the order in which the terpenes were reported for a flower batch of Ninja Fruit sold in New York State. The cross of Grapefruit Haze and Grape Ape comes from the breeder Stoned Ninja, who created it at Ocean Grown Seeds before founding Dojo Seed Co., where the strain is also listed. Several user reports note the strongly purple coloration of the flowers.
Lab Results:
Besides the terpenes mentioned, the product listing gives humulene at 0.42 %, beta-pinene at 0.13 %, alpha-bisabolol at 0.11 %, and fenchol and terpineol at 0.10 % each. The THC content of this batch was 25.59 % and the total terpene content 3.25 %. This is a single measurement, and neither the lab nor the year of testing is stated.
Other strain descriptions weight the terpene profile differently. One names pinene as the dominant terpene, followed by myrcene and limonene; a second puts limonene ahead of pinene and myrcene and lists caryophyllene only in fourth place.
THC and CBD Content:
The strain descriptions state 18 and 19 % THC, which is clearly below the measured batch; one of them puts the CBD content at 0 %. A grower who raised plants of the F2BX1 generation reports THC values of around 15 % with roughly 2 % terpenes. Levels vary with batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Genetics and Origin:
The mother was a Grapefruit Haze from Next Generation Seed Company, the father a Grape Ape from Apothecary Genetics. The strain descriptions list Ocean Grown Seeds as the breeder of the original version.
Ninja Fruit appears as a parent in crosses from several breeders. Dojo Seed Co. put a Ninja Fruit father on Key Lime Pie from Purple Caper Seeds and obtained Purple Pie. Pathetic Genetics used a Ninja Fruit mother for Fruit Fight, a cross with Man O' War, and attributes its strong colors, up to a possible fully purple phenotype, to this mother. Ocean Grown Seeds combined the strain with Alien Rift to make Ninja Rift and Purple Portal; The Bakery Genetics used it, among others, for Geisha Girl, Yakuza Kush and Shinobi Blood Lust.
Aroma and Flavor:
In scent and taste, grapes meet grapefruit, accompanied by a sweet note; a strong Haze aroma is also described. For the Ocean Grown Seeds version, a fruity, woody profile with a grape undertone is mentioned. Consumers add bitter citrus notes, spice and a hint of pine, and one mainly tasted grape and Haze. One grower perceived the plants differently: woody and musky, with a sweetish touch of berries and skunk.
Effects:
User reports describe an uplifted, sociable mood with cheerfulness and talkativeness, in some cases also with energy and creativity. Some consumers describe the state as functional without the body becoming heavy; others report focus together with relaxation, which one of them attributes to the combination of the stimulating Haze with the relaxing Indica side.
The reports disagree on strength. One grower rated the effect as very strong and long-lasting, another as light and short, and one consumer found the strain rather weak. Dry eyes, dry mouth and paranoia are listed as side effects.
Cultivation:
For the Ocean Grown Seeds version, 56 to 63 days of flowering, a stretch of about 60 % and a medium to high yield are stated. It is considered suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation and forms large, intensely colored colas. Two phenotypes are described: a sativa-leaning one with stretched growth and a compact, indica-leaning one.
In a documented indoor grow in living soil the stretch was stronger: the plant grew from 55 to 100 cm after the start of flowering and was ready for harvest after 65 days. The grower describes it as bushy and stable, with rock-hard, very compact flowers and little foliage. Another report contradicts this point and calls the plants leafy, which the grower attributes to the Haze heritage. The plants of this grower reacted sensitively to too much nitrogen and developed best outdoors in their own pot; green plants appeared alongside purple ones.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Two versions are listed under the name, both backed by the same breeder. Ocean Grown Seeds gives 56 to 63 days of flowering for the original version, Dojo Seed Co. 56 to 65 days for its own version. Both versions are described only as regular seeds.
