At least two genetically distinct lines circulate under the name Blue Banana, and neither can be linked to a breeder with a publication date. The oldest traceable mention leads to Southern California: an experience report from 2012 described a cross of Blueberry and Banana OG Private Reserve there, marketed as Blue Banana OG. Widely circulated strain descriptions, by contrast, trace the name back to Blue Dream and Banana OG.
Several strain descriptions consistently name Blue Dream and Banana OG as the parents and classify the result as a balanced hybrid with 50 % indica and 50 % sativa. Captain Seeds lists Blueberry and a Banana line for its own version and classifies it as indica-dominant. The Italian breeding by Terpethic shares neither: there, Blue Banana was created from a female Blue Cheese by Big Buddha Seeds and a female Ice Cream Banana by Sin City Seeds, combining a cheese-and-berry background on one side with a banana line on the other.
The aroma profile remains consistent across sources: ripe banana, fresh blueberry, along with a spicy note reminiscent of stone fruit. In flavor, the berry comes forward, underlaid by banana and earthy spice. Some reports reverse the order and describe mainly sweet, creamy banana. Caryophyllene is named as the dominant terpene, followed by terpinolene and myrcene; one producer ranks myrcene above terpinolene.
Experience reports describe a rapid onset that unfolds in waves: first an uplifted mood and creative drive, then physical relaxation without pronounced heaviness. Several reports mention that activities remain possible throughout. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are named as accompanying effects. The 2012 report rates the strength as moderate, with a moderate to longer duration.
Strain descriptions cite 21 % THC and 1 % CBG, while another gives 23 to 31 % THC without disclosing the origin of these figures. The providers state their own versions independently: Crop King Seeds names 21 % THC and 1 % CBD, Captain Seeds 18 to 24 % THC at under 1 % CBD.
Terpethic gives around 63 days of flowering for its own version and describes it as fast-flowering, suitable for indoor, outdoor and greenhouse cultivation. The stretch is notable: the breeder cites a tripling of height after the onset of flowering and an additional nitrogen application at that point. According to this description, the flower mass concentrates on one large central main cola.
Crop King Seeds lists its own version, described as Blue Dream x Banana OG, with 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, 16 ounces per square meter indoors, 18 to 21 ounces per plant outdoors, a height of up to 4 feet, harvest in early October and a temperate climate. Captain Seeds names 8 to 10 weeks for the indica-dominant version as well, along with 400 to 500 g/m² indoors, 400 to 800 g per plant outdoors, 80 to 140 cm height, a warm, temperate or Mediterranean climate and a medium difficulty level. All three versions are offered exclusively as feminized seeds.
