Blueberry Pie

Two well-known North American strains are named as the parents of Blueberry Pie: Girl Scout Cookies, or GSC for short, and Blue Dream. Who first crossed the two is not on record. Strain descriptions also disagree on classification: some list the cross as an indica-dominant hybrid, while others put indica and sativa level at 50 % each.

Genetics and Origin:

The descent from GSC and Blue Dream is the common reading, but not the only one. One strain description mentions a competing account in which Blueberry and Durban Poison are the parents, and also lists the strain under the name Blue Dream Pie. In addition, several breeders offer seeds under the name Blueberry Pie whose lineage has little or nothing to do with this cross.

Aroma and Flavor:

Blueberry and other berries with a sweet undertone define the scent. Added to this are vanilla and a nutty, earthy note that sellers of flower compare to fresh pastry. Consumers confirm the blueberry taste and a sweet aftertaste in their reports; pine and vanilla are mentioned occasionally.

Effects:

The reports agree that the effect is relaxing and lifts the mood, often accompanied by a tingling in the body. They diverge on how stimulating it is. Some consumers describe a clear head, focus and talkativeness without sluggishness afterwards, others a sleep-inducing effect that wears off quickly. Reports and strain descriptions name dry mouth, dry eyes, headache and dizziness as side effects, and paranoia in inexperienced consumers.

THC and CBD Content:

Strain descriptions give 15 to 25 % THC for the cross of GSC and Blue Dream, with figures from individual descriptions differing considerably within that range. CBD is given as 0.1 to 1 %.

Lab Results:

2 US vendors of THCA flower have published analysis values for one batch each under this name. Measured were 20.7 and 23.3 % THCA; the delta-9-THC share was below 0.2 % in each case. Total terpenes differ widely between the samples, at 3.8 and 1.9 %. In both profiles beta-caryophyllene ranks first, followed by limonene and humulene; in one analysis myrcene and bisabolol follow. Such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype. Strain descriptions, by contrast, put myrcene and pinene at the top alongside caryophyllene.

Cultivation:

For the GSC cross there are only details from strain descriptions, and these differ: one gives 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, another 9 to 10 weeks. A warm to mild climate is consistently given, and cultivation is possible indoors as well as outdoors.

Versions from Different Breeders:

The seeds offered under the name come from breeders who use their own crosses:

• Raw Genetics crossed Poison Gushers, also referred to as Blueberry Gushers, with Georgia Pie. The predominantly indica-leaning strain is available only as feminized seed; stated are 65 to 70 days of flowering, tall plants branching from bottom to top, and dense, resinous flowers with notes of gas and cream.
• Dankmatter Genetics pollinated Grape Pie from Canarado Genetics with a Blueberry Muffin male. The indica was released as a limited run of 250 packs of regular seeds. The breeder states around 65 days of flowering and describes flowers tasting of blueberry and grape that suit hash production.
• Seedsman lists Blueberry Pie F1 Fast, a feminized, indica-dominant F1 hybrid of (GMO Cookies x Legend OG) x (GSC x Blueberry). Seedsman states 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, 450 to 600 g/m² indoors, 450 to 750 g per plant outdoors, plus 16 to 24 % THC and at most 1 % CBD. The breeder describes the aroma as fruity, gassy and skunky. A grower who cultivated these seeds reports easy growth and a rich harvest of sticky flowers.
