Peanut Butter Breath and a selection of Girl Scout Cookies that circulates as a cutting are the parents of Peanut Butter Cookies in the Square One Genetics version. This line is the best documented: strain descriptions list the same cross, and several breeders have used it further for their own strains. Strains from Lucky 13 Seed Company, Tastebudz Seeds and Pure Instinto carry the same name as well but come from other parent lines.
Genetics and Origin:
Peanut Butter Breath traces back to Do-Si-Dos and Mendo Breath. The cross with GSC is classed as an indica-dominant hybrid; one strain description puts the indica share at 65 %. PB Cookies and Peanut Butter Cookie are in use as short forms.
Square One Genetics crossed the strain further itself, with MAC 1 to make Miracle Mango and with Purple Punch to make Strawberry Torte. Robin Hood Seeds used it for PB & Violet (with Frozen GRC) and for a cross with Apple Fritter, and Michiganrootz420 for Peanut Butter Bears (with Gummy Bears). ApeOrigin distributes a feminized line that came from plants of the Square One version.
Versions from Different Breeders:
- Square One Genetics: GSC cutting × Peanut Butter Breath, regular seeds only, flowering time about 63 days according to the strain description.
- ApeOrigin: reproduction of the Square One line, feminized only; the breeder names suitability for Sea of Green and for temperate to Mediterranean climates, and for the greenhouse further north.
- Lucky 13 Seed Company: Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies × Peanut Butter Herijuana, regular seeds, 60 % indica, 9 weeks of flowering, medium to high yield.
- Tastebudz Seeds: Do-Si-Dos × OG Kush Breath, feminized, 80 % indica, 9 to 10 weeks of flowering, 650 g/m² indoor, 800 g per plant outdoor, harvest in October.
- Pure Instinto: GSC, OG Kush Breath and Face Off OG in the pedigree, feminized, 60 to 65 days of flowering, 400 to 450 g/m² indoor, 500 to 800 g per plant outdoor.
Aroma and Flavor:
Square One Genetics describes sweet cookie dough, pine, a hint of OG and peanut butter. ApeOrigin names sweet nuts, pine and vanilla for its reproduction. Other strain descriptions stress a pronounced sweetness with nutty and resinous notes, with coffee and diesel added in the flavor. User reports mention peanut butter with hazelnut, gasoline and peanuts over a skunky tone, and the smell of cookie dough; others taste mainly pine, earth and some sweetness, and one report misses the expected peanut butter. Lucky 13 associates its own version with peanut butter and strawberry jam.
Rankings of the terpenes are available, without measured values. Strain descriptions place caryophyllene ahead of terpinolene and myrcene. A producer that grows the Do-Si-Dos line lists caryophyllene, limonene, linalool and humulene; Pure Instinto names limonene and pinene for its own version.
THC Content:
For the cross of GSC and Peanut Butter Breath, strain descriptions give 22 % THC. Breeders quantify only their own versions: Tastebudz Seeds 25 %, Pure Instinto 25 to 30 %.
Effects:
Users report physical relaxation with an elevated, often giggly and cheerful mood, plus euphoria. How alert the mind stays is reported differently: some name focus, creativity or even drive, others become tired after about 1 hour. Onset is also described in opposite ways, sometimes delayed, sometimes quick and long lasting. Several reports describe the effect as strong, especially at low tolerance.
Side effects named are dry mouth, dry eyes and paranoia, and individual reports also mention initial dizziness, headaches and harsh smoke.
Cultivation:
For the cross of GSC and Peanut Butter Breath, strain profiles describe tapering buds, light green foliage and trichomes that look golden in the light. Lucky 13 describes its own version as tall with little lateral spread and long, resin-rich shoots; the breeder advises tight plant spacing with plenty of room upward and slow drying on the stem.
A documented grow of the Tastebudz version shows how the plant recovered after stress. After a pH value of the irrigation water that was too high, it lost most of its shoots as a young plant but picked up clearly once the problem was corrected. The remaining shoots were pulled in opposite directions with LST, which let more light into the interior of the plant. It needed neither more nor less water and nutrients than the other plants in the tent. During flowering the smell changed from kushy to nutty with a sweetish note. Harvest took place on day 69 of flowering; after 12 days of drying, around 70 g remained. The buds carried somewhat more leaf and required more trimming; in the smoke there was a nutty-sweet note with earthy and floral touches.
