Very firm, compact buds with a thick coat of resin are named in several cultivation descriptions as a hallmark of Slurricane. A cutting nursery and the seed supplier MSNL also see this as the main cultivation risk, namely gray mold inside the dense buds. The cross of Do-Si-Dos and Purple Punch comes from In House Genetics and is listed as a predominantly indica-leaning hybrid.
Cultivation:
The cutting nursery, whose figures refer to clone #7, advises keeping humidity below 45 % in late flowering. It describes strong side shoots, medium internode spacing, a stretch of about 1.5 times after the switch to flowering and a medium nutrient demand; according to this source, the plant responds well to topping, LST and SCROG.
Anesia Seeds and Archive Seed Bank call the strain easy to cultivate and vigorous, and Anesia also highlights a high share of calyxes. Grow reports on the Anesia version are less consistent. There the plants grew more sativa-like and needed room upwards, which makes them suitable for a SCROG. One grower harvested around 30 and 40 g dry from 2 clearly different phenotypes, with the airier, sativa-like one yielding the 40 g. Another report considers cuttings hard to root and the strain unsuitable for beginners.
A documented indoor grow using S1 seeds of clone #7 from In House Genetics shows that the buds do not necessarily turn out dense. After about 6 weeks of growth and 9 weeks of flowering with topping, LST and supercropping, the buds stayed loose, which the grower attributes to excessive defoliation and heat stress. According to the product description from In House Genetics, the flowers can turn purple and bluish at maturity.
Genetics and Origin:
For its own version, Anesia Seeds gives the Do-Si-Dos cut from Northern California, while Archive Seed Bank lists the parents in reverse order. The selections #7 and #44 come from In House Genetics, and the breeder combined them into Slurricane IX, a line from regular seeds with gas and grape notes. Anesia Seeds puts the indica share at 60 %, an Australian flower product at 70 %. Whether In House Genetics also offered the original Slurricane as feminized is documented inconsistently: one strain overview says it did not, while a seed retailer lists feminized seeds from the breeder.
As a parent, Slurricane appears among others in Blueberry Pancakes, Slurty3, Bananacane, Big Drip and the autoflower line Auto Slurricane.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Archive Seed Bank, Advanced Seeds, Anesia Seeds and MSNL list feminized versions, each with its own specifications:
- In House Genetics: 60 to 75 days of flowering according to the product description, yield rated medium to high without a figure
- Archive Seed Bank: 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, height 100 to 130 cm
- Advanced Seeds: 55 to 60 days of flowering indoors, outdoor harvest in the first half of October at up to 2.5 m in height, indoor 550 g/m²
- Anesia Seeds: 64 days of flowering, 450 to 500 g/m²
- MSNL: 8 to 10 weeks of flowering, height 100 to 180 cm, indoor 400 to 500 g/m², prefers a warm or Mediterranean climate
Aroma and Flavor:
In House Genetics describes creamy OG notes over tropical blueberry, while Archive Seed Bank and Anesia Seeds put sweet berries and a fresh citrus note in the foreground. A detailed user report on a batch sold in Illinois lists sweet-and-sour grape, berries, diesel and cherry in the aroma, candy grape on the palate first and diesel with a sweetish earthiness on the finish. A report on flowers grown in South Africa differs clearly, describing mango, pine cones and lime. As terpenes, the label of the Illinois batch lists limonene, beta-caryophyllene, linalool and alpha- and beta-pinene, while one strain description gives caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene.
THC and CBD Content:
Advanced Seeds and MSNL give up to 28 % THC for their versions, Anesia Seeds up to 30 %; MSNL also states under 1 % CBD. One strain description lists 21 % THC and 1 % CBG. For 2 flower products of this strain available on prescription in Australia, 27 and 30 % THC are stated, and the label of the Illinois batch gives 22.15 % THCA and 0.43 % THC. Values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Effects:
User reports describe an effect that sets in slowly and moves from the head into the body, with relaxation, euphoria, giddiness, tingling and later drowsiness; individual reports mention a creative, focused phase beforehand. One report describes pressure behind the eyes and at the crown as well as a body effect in waves to the point of reluctance to move. Another, by contrast, emphasizes a euphoric, energizing head component. At the other end is a grow report on the Anesia version with a very strong effect lasting around 4 hours, difficulty concentrating and paranoia. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are named as side effects.
