Candy Cane

User reports differ on whether Candy Cane tends to make people tired or energized. There is more agreement on the flavor: several consumers compare it to a peppermint candy cane, while one found the mint too intrusive. The best-documented version is the autoflower from Crop King Seeds, an indica-leaning cross of AK-47, Mango and White Widow with a Ruderalis share, which strain descriptions put at 70 % indica and 30 % sativa. Under the same name, In House Genetics distributes a genetically distinct strain made from Slurricane #7 and Platinum Candy.

Effects:

Relaxation, drowsiness and appetite recur in the reports, in some cases together with an elevated mood. Other consumers found the strain stimulating, felt focused or creative and were prone to giggling; one report says it kept the consumer awake even though cannabis otherwise makes them tired. Physical tingling and heightened arousal are mentioned in isolated cases.

As side effects, consumers describe dry mouth and dry eyes, and individual reports also mention dizziness, headaches, severe tiredness, nervousness and paranoid thoughts.

Aroma and Flavor:

Crop King Seeds describes the flavor as sweet, fruity and sour and lists mango, mint, as well as tropical and pungent notes in the aroma profile. Other strain descriptions speak of sweet mint with a berry edge, and in the flavor additionally of menthol and citrus. User reports mention peppermint candies and fresh breath, once a distinctly fruity smell; one grower found sweet berry and lemon on a purple-colored plant.

As terpenes, the breeder lists caryophyllene, delta-3-carene, humulene, limonene and myrcene. Another strain description puts caryophyllene first, followed by limonene and pinene. The In House Genetics version is described very differently: with gasoline and grape, and a cultivation business names fuel, sugar and kush.

THC and CBD Content:

Crop King Seeds gives 17 % THC and 0.10 % CBD for its own version. Another strain description reproduces the breeder data as 15 to 20 % THC, 0.30 % CBD and 0.20 % CBN. Further strain descriptions list 18 % and 15 to 20 % THC.

Lab Results:

For the In House Genetics version, 2 analyses by SC Labs are available, each of a flower sample from Humboldt County (SC Labs, 2022; SC Labs, 2023). Measured were 37.3 and 37.2 % THCA, 0.4 and 0.3 % delta-9-THC, and 0.1 % CBG in each case. Total terpene content was 2.28 and 2.11 %. Both samples come from the same operation; values vary with batch, cultivation and phenotype.

Cultivation:

According to Crop King Seeds, the autoflower version flowers for 7 weeks, and 8 to 9 weeks pass from germination to harvest. The breeder classes the plants as small, indoors and outdoors alike, and gives the yield as 200 g/m² under artificial light and 100 g per plant outdoors, where harvest takes place in September and October. A Mediterranean climate is preferred. The plant is described as vigorous, with long side branches, dark green leaves, orange hairs and abundant trichomes. Statements on difficulty conflict: the breeder's product page rates cultivation as moderate, while another rendering of the breeder description speaks of very easy cultivation.

An outdoor grow report gives plants of at most 2 feet and a flowering phase of 5 weeks, along with a purple expression with heavy resin coverage. Other growers describe quick ripening and heavy buds under LED light. One strain description shows long, dense, bell-pepper-shaped buds in neon green. In a customer report, the yield rose markedly after LST and cutting back.

Versions from Different Breeders:

The Candy Cane from In House Genetics is a feminized strain with an indica emphasis. For it, 60 to 75 days of flowering, a medium yield and a medium to tall height are stated. The description highlights vigorous branching, good response to training, dense, resin-rich buds and colors from dark purple to light green. It should not be confused with Candy Canes from Lit Farms, an indica-leaning cross of Candyland and Cherry Dosidos with a flowering time of around 60 days.
