Strain descriptions attribute an earthy base note with sweet and citrus-like hints to Snow White, in part complemented by pine and a tea-like note. Of the several strains sharing the name, the version from Nirvana Seeds is the best documented, an indica-leaning F1 hybrid from the White Widow line whose flowers are described in grow reports as densely coated in resin.
Aroma and Flavor:
Spliff Seeds, which offers its own further development, describes the flavor of its version as fruity and sweet and the aroma as earthy with hints of mint, Haze and diesel. Strain descriptions name caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and humulene.
User reports differ in their impressions. Some describe a sweet, floral scent or sweetness with a musky undertone, and a grow report on the Spliff version notes honey, maple syrup and cough syrup in the flavor. Others found the strain too earthy, and one report compares the smell to chemicals, cheese and gas.
Genetics and Origin:
Nirvana Seeds lists Snow White as a selection from its “White” family. Strain descriptions name White Widow as the mother. The breeder itself speaks of a pure indica father that gives the plant a stockier growth habit than White Widow; strain descriptions and retailers identify it as Northern Lights. The ratio is given as 65 % indica to 35 % sativa.
THClones combined Snow White with Bubble Gum for White Bubblegum, and Snowcap came from Snow White and Haze. The autoflower strain Snowryder from Short Stuff Seedbank goes back to Lowryder, crossed with the Snow White from No Mercy Supply.
Versions from Different Breeders:
For the feminized version from Nirvana Seeds, 8 to 10 weeks of flowering and 400 to 500 g/m² in a Sea of Green are stated.
By its own account, Spliff Seeds crossed a Snow White made from Northern Lights Special and White Widow again with Cinderella 99 in order to achieve more compact growth, more flowers relative to leaf and a higher THC content. For the feminized seeds, the breeder gives 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, 500 to 600 g/m² indoors and 350 g per plant outdoors, at a height of 60 to 80 cm indoors and at least 150 cm outdoors.
Other lineages carry the same name. Purple Caper Seeds crossed a White Widow F2 with a pure indica from Las Vegas and states about 60 days of flowering for the regular seeds. No Mercy Supply admits that it does not know the genetics of its sativa-leaning Snow White, offered as regular seed, with certainty; the breeder assumes a selected Silver Pearl and presumably a mutation and gives about 70 days of flowering.
Lab Results:
Spliff Seeds published an analysis from Test Lab Amsterdam dating from 2014 for its version. The single measurement showed 16.7 % THC, 0.2 % CBG and 0.05 % each of CBD and THCV. From this result, Spliff Seeds concluded that the strain is sativa-dominant with indica traits, whereas the breeder’s product description lists it as an indica hybrid.
Effects:
Nirvana Seeds describes the effect as a mix of high and stone. User reports put relaxation, euphoria and an uplifted mood in the foreground, along with giddiness and talkativeness. Whether the strain is more stimulating or more sedating is perceived differently: some reports mention energy, creativity and focus, a grow report on the Nirvana version also nervousness, others sleepiness or, with the Spliff version, a heavy body effect to the point of being stuck on the couch. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are named as side effects.
Cultivation:
Strain descriptions put flowering at 60 to 70 days; in grow reports on the Nirvana version it was 60 to 67 days. The strain can be grown indoors, outdoors and in a greenhouse, and October is given as the outdoor harvest month. One strain description rates cultivation as moderately difficult, whereas the grow reports consider the plants suitable for beginners.
These reports describe bushy, fast-growing plants that stretched from about 35 to about 120 cm. The plants showed 2 phenotypes, one sativa-leaning with looser flowers and one indica-leaning with very compact flowers, both heavily coated in resin. When dried, the flowers were hard, and the ratio of flowers to leaves turned out very good. The plants tolerated supercropping well and needed supports during flowering; they also tolerated temperature swings and cold.
For the Spliff version, grow reports document 49 to 70 days of flowering and a smaller stretch from about 30 to 80 cm. The growth habit is described as stocky and fir-shaped with many strong side shoots. The plants responded well to topping the main stem, were suitable for SCROG, tolerated over- and underfeeding and showed no susceptibility to fungal infestation or mold.
