Cherry and berries, cool mint and a nutty finish with a cookie note: that is what descriptions of Hippie Crasher come down to, a strain also listed as Hippy Crasher. The mint is attributed to the parent Kush Mints. Accounts of the other side of the cross and of the breeder, however, differ.
Aroma and Flavor:
According to several strain descriptions, the aroma is led by cherry and a sharp mint note, accompanied by spiced nuts. In flavor the strain recalls berry cake, with nut and mint in the finish. Other descriptions add vanilla, cream and grape, sometimes an earthy, gassy ending; another lists ammonia and menthol alongside mint and vanilla. A newspaper review from January 2023 described the scent of the flowers tested as sweet and gassy. In a live hash rosin, a review from late 2022 found grape, cherry, berries and slightly sour citrus notes over a creamy base, plus a pungent undertone reminiscent of kerosene.
The terpene details contradict each other. One strain description puts caryophyllene first, followed by limonene and pinene. An evaluation of lab certificates for various products instead arrives at terpinolene as the most common terpene, ahead of limonene and myrcene.
Genetics and Origin:
A clone nursery describing a breeder cut from Apex Genetics gives Wedding Cake and Kush Mints as parents. The same lineage is named in reviews from 2022 and 2023 and in several strain descriptions. Others list Wedding Crasher, a cross of Wedding Cake and Purple Punch, as a parent instead of Wedding Cake; one single description also replaces Kush Mints with OG Kush Breath. Which variant is correct cannot be settled from the sources.
The nursery names Apex Genetics as the breeder, and the 2023 newspaper review called the strain the operation's flagship at the time. Other strain descriptions consider the breeder unknown. The classification also varies, from pure indica through an indica-dominant hybrid at a ratio of 80 to 20 to a balanced hybrid.
Effects:
Consumers report a euphoric onset that can make them talkative and creative and gives way to pronounced body relaxation with tingling. At higher doses, several reports describe drowsiness up to a reluctance to leave the couch; some consumers, by contrast, find small amounts focusing and mentally clear.
Reports differ on the onset. The newspaper review described a delayed start for flowers, which reached its full strength only after a few minutes, whereas the rosin review described a fast-onset, foggy effect that lasted half a day. Reported side effects include dry mouth, dry eyes and food cravings. Strain descriptions additionally list nervousness and paranoia, and another lists dizziness and a racing heart.
THC Content:
THC figures in strain descriptions range from 18 to 27 %, one of them also listing 1 % CBG. For the Apex Genetics breeder cut, the clone nursery gives 18 to 22 %. A batch reviewed by a trade magazine in 2023 was declared at 28.46 % THC; no testing lab is named there. Such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Cultivation:
For the breeder cut the nursery gives 54 to 61 days of flowering, and one strain description names the same value. Others put it at 8 to 10 weeks. On yield, two sources agree on 400 to 500 g/m² indoors; outdoors it is 400 to 600 g per plant according to the nursery.
According to this description, the plants build a stable frame with strong side branches and reach up to 60 inches (just over 150 cm) indoors and up to 80 inches (just over 200 cm) outdoors. A support net is advised, while another description recommends topping and LST. The flowers are considered dense and heavily coated in resin, with orange pistils; reviews mention purple accents.
The nursery rates the difficulty as rather high and advises some growing background, while other descriptions speak of moderate effort. Warm, dry conditions with steady air movement are named. One description rates mold resistance as medium, another sets the outdoor harvest in October.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Besides the Apex Genetics breeder cut, which is described only as a cutting, feminized seeds are documented under the name, each without a named breeder. Sonoma Seeds gives 7 to 9 weeks of flowering for its version, around 400 g/m² indoors and around 400 g per plant outdoors; Crop King Seeds gives 7 to 8 weeks with the same yield values. Both state 15.75 to 19 % THC and 0.38 to 1.04 % CBD in identical wording, which places them below the other THC figures for the strain.
