also known as Sugarcane
Sugar Cane is a hybrid of Platinum and Slurricane from In House Genetics of Seattle, described with dense resin coverage and a sweet grape aroma.
What lies behind the parent Platinum is not documented consistently for Sugar Cane. What is established is the cross Platinum × Slurricane by In House Genetics of Seattle, with Slurricane tracing back to Dosidos and Purple Punch. One pedigree lists Platinum as Platinum Cookies, meaning a Platinum selection of Girl Scout Cookies, but marks this as an assumption. The breeder's own Platinum, by contrast, is recorded as UW Hashplant × Permafrost. The strain exists as a feminized seed line; it is described by its dense resin coverage and a sweet grape aroma.
UW Hashplant × Permafrost is also supported by the description of the related Deluxe Sugarcane from the same breeder, a cross of Slurmint IX #7 and Platinum, as well as by a statement from a US clone nursery. The classification is inconsistent as well: Sugar Cane is sometimes regarded as predominantly sativa, with one description putting it at 60 % sativa to 40 % indica, while other sources reverse the ratio or call it a balanced hybrid.
The strain appears as a parent in several crosses. In House Genetics used it for Black Sugar (with Black Cherry Soda), Sugar Fuel (with Double Kush Breath), Sugar Tree (with Lemon Tree) and Sugoi Zushi (with Blue Zushi). Alchemy Genetics crossed it with Kush Mints to make Sugar Mints, and East Coast Cultivars with Boston Cream Pie to make Sweet Cream.
The documented variants all come from In House Genetics itself. For the original Sugar Cane, 60 to 75 days of flowering and 20 to 30 % THC are given; a seed retailer lists the same feminized line at 8 to 10 weeks and 22 to 26 % THC. Sugar Cane V2 uses a different selection, Slurricane #44, is considered indica-dominant and is described with 8 to 9 weeks of flowering and 29 to 33 % THC.
V2 is the basis for 2 further lines: Sugar Cane V2 Bx1, the backcross with Slurricane #44, and Sugarcane V3, from V2 and Platinum, with 8 to 9 weeks of flowering. The figures for the backcross contradict each other: 8 to 9 weeks and 29 to 33 % THC in one strain description, 8 to 10 weeks and 22 to 26 % at a seed retailer.
The ranges above are set against lower individual values. A strain directory lists Sugar Cane at 17 % THC. For a flower batch from a US producer, 17.42 % THCA and 2.14 % total terpenes were published in 2020, with the testing laboratory not named. The value is a single measurement; contents vary with batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Myrcene, limonene and caryophyllene are named as the characteristic terpenes. Which of them dominates remains open: the same description calls myrcene dominant yet lists limonene first.
The descriptions agree on a very sweet profile reminiscent of caramelized sugar or syrup, accompanied by grape and floral notes. Depending on the source, berries, earthy and herbal tones and a spicy sharpness are added; some phenotypes are said to smell more of gas. One grow report stands out, in which 2 phenotypes smelled of spoiled milk and of beer respectively.
User reports describe an activating effect with focus, energy and elevated mood, along with euphoria and creative phases. Others describe a course that begins relaxed, then becomes stimulating and ends in physical calm. Impressions differ on strength: some found the strain weak, others unexpectedly strong for the stated THC content. Dry mouth, dry eyes, dizziness, racing heart, restlessness and paranoid thoughts are listed as side effects.
In 2 documented indoor grows, flowering took 56 and 60 days, which is at the lower end of the stated 60 to 75 days. Both describe a Christmas-tree-shaped, vigorous growth habit with long, sturdy side branches; in one case the plant grew from around 30 to about 90 cm during flowering. The dried buds are described as hard and compact, the ratio of flower to leaf as favorable and the trichome coverage as very dense. The plants tolerated temperature fluctuations well in both reports.
On nutrient demand, the two growers contradict each other: one got by with little, the other describes high demand and low tolerance for error. Mold is similar. One report sees no susceptibility, while a seed retailer and a clone nursery point to a risk at high humidity because of the dense buds. From seed, 2 growth types are described, a shorter one with indica character and a tall, strongly stretching one. Purple coloration appears mainly at cool temperatures.
The strain is listed for indoor and outdoor cultivation, with yield rated high and difficulty moderate. The nursery names topping, LST and SCROG as suitable methods; another description considers supports worthwhile.

No factor adopted: one grow report gives growth from about 30 to about 90 cm after the start of flowering (±200 %), whereas a clone nursery gives 1.5- to 2.0-fold.
Long, strong side branches; dried buds hard and compact. From seed, 2 growth types are described: a shorter one with indica character and a tall, strongly stretching one.
Topping, LST and SCROG according to a clone nursery; supports according to another strain description.
Several breeders sell their own versions under this name. Each figure comes from the respective breeder.

The same feminized seed line, differing details from a seed retailer: 8 to 10 weeks, 22 to 26 % THC, CBD below 1 %, yield high, difficulty moderate, classification 50/50.
Backcross: Sugar Cane V2 × Slurricane #44. Values according to the strain description of a strain directory.
Measurements of individual samples. Values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
User reports describe an activating, focusing effect with elevated mood, along with euphoria and creativity; sweet flavor with grape and floral notes. Grow reports describe a Christmas-tree-shaped, vigorous growth habit, hard, compact buds, very dense trichome coverage and good tolerance of temperature fluctuations.
Strength: perceived as weak in part, as unexpectedly strong in part. Individual reports mention restlessness, paranoia and dry mouth. Nutrient demand: one grower got by with little, another describes high demand and low tolerance for error. Odor: one grow report names 2 phenotypes with notes of spoiled milk and beer respectively instead of the otherwise described sweet profile.
