Mimosa is a cross of Clementine and Purple Punch released by Symbiotic Genetics in 2017, with a citrus aroma, which several descriptions list as sativa-dominant.
On day 56 of flowering rather than the planned day 63, 4 cuttings of Mimosa were harvested. They were grown from regular seed by Symbiotic Genetics and, by the grower's account, finished earlier than expected. The grow diary, kept in late 2025, fits the roughly 60 days of flowering that a strain description gives for the original. The cross of Clementine and Purple Punch appeared in 2017; several descriptions list it as sativa-dominant with 70 % sativa, others simply as a hybrid.
The grow ran on coco. The cuttings rooted slowly and recovered only hesitantly after topping, while they responded better to tying down. Stretch was weaker than expected and largely finished by day 21 of flowering, and purple tones appeared from week 5 of flowering. The grower gives the dry weight as just under 3.2 lbs for all 4 plants. Another grower likewise writes that the strain is hard to clone.
Strain descriptions give 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, an outdoor harvest in mid to late October, and a warm, dry, sunny climate as suitable. They rate yield as medium without giving a figure, and difficulty as easy in some cases and medium in others. According to a strain overview, feminized seed of the original has never existed.
Behind the strain are Michael and Vince, the founders of Symbiotic Genetics. According to a 2026 trade report, they wanted a strong citrus aroma in a plant that is profitable for producers and suited to hash making; various phenotypes were tested for this with support from Jungle Boys. Clementine traces back to Tangie and Lemon Skunk, Purple Punch to Larry OG and Granddaddy Purple. Purple Mimosa and Mimosas circulate as aliases.
At the Northern California Cannabis Cup 2018 in Santa Rosa, a flower entered as Mimosa #A5 took 2nd place in the Best Sativa Flower category. The same year added 3rd place at the Santa Cruz Cup (Best Sungrown Sativa), and strain descriptions also list 2nd place at the 2019 Karma Cup in the sativa ranking. Symbiotic Genetics crossed the strain further itself, for example to Bitter Orange (Wedding Cake × Mimosa); from TH Seeds comes Pure Mimosa, made from Mimosa V6 and Pure Afghan.
Symbiotic Genetics has released a revised version as Mimosa v6. Royal Queen Seeds lists a feminized version with 9 to 10 weeks of flowering, 350 to 400 g/m² indoors, around 550 g per plant outdoors, up to 100 cm in height indoors and 22 % THC. Zamnesia gives the same flowering time and THC value for its feminized version, but up to 600 g/m². The autoflower variant from Royal Queen Seeds is a cross of Mimosa and Orangeade Auto with up to 21 % THC.
Mimosa EVO from Barney's Farm departs further: the breeder gives Mimosa × Orange Punch as the genetics, 60 % indica, 65 to 70 days of flowering, 700 to 800 g/m² and 32 % THC. Another description of the same strain lists Purple Punch × Clementine with 70 % sativa. Grow reports on it give 58 to 60 days of flowering and, across 3 phenotypes, 525 to 575 g/m²; several growers describe very dense flowers, and one warns of mold inside the colas.
Citrus, orange and grapefruit dominate the descriptions, one of which speaks of fruit punch and citrus rind. Sweet berries, earthy tones and a skunk note are also named, and individual user reports mention diesel, pine, or lavender and rose.
75 user and grow reports from 2020 to 2026 were evaluated. The common denominator is an effect described as activating and focused, and as lifting the mood, in part also creatively stimulating and talkative. Several reports describe tiredness and physical heaviness at larger amounts, and individual users found the strain tiring from the start. Dry mouth, dry eyes, headache, dizziness and inner restlessness are named as side effects.
Strain descriptions give 19 % THC or a range of 19 to 27 %, and put the CBD content below 1 %; one additionally lists 1 % CBG.
A measurement with an NIR device (Strains of Malta, 2026) gave 14.61 % total THC for a home grower's flower sample, with 15.20 % THCA, 0.40 % CBD and 0.50 % CBG; it is a single measurement. The labels of 2 flower products from US dispensaries, reproduced in product reviews from 2022 and 2023, showed 23.9 % THC and 25.389 % THCA respectively, and 1.266 % total terpenes; the lab is not named there. Such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
The information on the terpene profile is contradictory: the 2023 label lists limonene, β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene and β-pinene as the strongest terpenes, the 2022 one β-myrcene, α-pinene and limonene. Strain descriptions put myrcene ahead of pinene and caryophyllene in some cases, and limonene and caryophyllene at the top in others.

Several users report tiredness and heaviness at larger amounts, and individual users found the strain tiring or ineffective throughout. For the Royal Queen Seeds version, one report names high resistance to powdery mildew, another susceptibility to mold; a further one describes a low-yielding, heavily resinous phenotype. For Mimosa EVO from Barney's Farm, reports give shorter flowering times (58 to 60 days) and lower yields (525 to 575 g/m²) than stated by the breeder, one report with deficiency symptoms throughout and 2 reports in which only 1 of 3 seeds germinated.
