Lemon Thai and Kush in the name, Haze and White Widow in the pedigree: that is how Humboldt Seed Organization presents its Lemon Thai Kush, a sativa-leaning hybrid with, according to the breeder, 60 % sativa and 40 % indica. The breeder attributes the heavy resin production to White Widow and the multilayered aroma to Haze. Other strain descriptions give the lineage differently, so no consistent genetics are documented under this name.
Genetics and Origin:
Besides the account from Humboldt Seed Organization, several other pedigrees are in circulation. One strain description attributes to the supplier Variety of Cannabis its own cross of Lemon Thai and OG Kush, while a further entry on that version mentions Thai and Hawaiian landraces. A third source points to Lemon Kush and a Thai landrace without naming a breeder.
As a parent, the Humboldt Seed Organization version is documented in Sausage Berry: The Horticulture Company crossed it with Goji OG from Bodhi Seeds.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Humboldt Seed Organization sells the strain as feminized and as regular seed. The cultivation details are identical for both seed types, while the THC content differs. For Variety of Cannabis, one strain description lists feminized seeds, around 65 days of flowering and suitability for indoor, outdoor and greenhouse growing. A product page of the supplier, however, adopts the description from Humboldt Seed Organization, including Haze and White Widow as parents. Whether Variety of Cannabis maintains its own line or passes on the genetics of Humboldt Seed Organization cannot be determined from the sources.
THC and CBD Content:
For the feminized version, Humboldt Seed Organization states 16 to 20 % THC, for the regular version 21 %, in both cases with 0.1 % CBD. A blog post by the breeder mentions up to about 20 % THC, depending on growing conditions and phenotype. Another strain description lists 18 % THC and 1 % CBG.
Aroma and Flavor:
According to the breeder, citrus, fresh flowers and cedar wood define the scent; for flavor it names lemon, pine, pepper and exotic woods. Other strain descriptions add earthy and sweet notes and list limonene as the dominant terpene, followed by myrcene and pinene. In one grow report, the plant smelled distinctly of lemon during flowering.
Effects:
The breeder describes a long-lasting effect that affects the head more than the body and, by its account, fades into physical relaxation. Users report euphoria, drive and concentration, others mainly relaxation and inner calm; individual reports mention hunger and drowsiness. Reported side effects are dry eyes, dry mouth, dizziness and anxious restlessness, and one report also describes nightmares.
Cultivation:
Humboldt Seed Organization describes a tall, high-yielding plant for indoor and outdoor cultivation. Indoors, the breeder gives 60 to 65 days of flowering and 400 to 600 g/m². Outdoors, the plants are said to reach 2 to 4 m in height, ripen in early October and yield 2,000 to 3,000 g per plant. A temperate or Mediterranean climate is recommended, resistance to moisture is rated average, and fertilizing should be restrained.
Community Experiences:
The 3 documented indoor grows with seeds from Humboldt Seed Organization clearly show the tendency to grow tall. After the start of flowering, the plants gained around 200 to 267 %, for example from 35 to 105 cm or from 30 to 110 cm; one grew from 60 to 220 cm. 2 reports describe a striking number of long, strong side shoots, all 3 advise topping the main stem and using nets or stakes for support in flowering, and 2 name SCROG as a suitable method. Harvest came after 60, 65 and 73 days of flowering. The growers highlight the favorable ratio of flowers to leaves and rate the yield as very high; 2 of them describe the dried flowers as hard and compact.
The reports disagree on nutrient demand: one calls for a lot of fertilizer, another prefers low EC values. One grower notes susceptibility to mold, while a strain description of the Variety of Cannabis version states high resistance to mold and powdery mildew.
