Anyone reading user reports on Orange Haze comes across two readings of the same strain. At the core are accounts of an energizing, euphoric high with a distinct orange flavor. Alongside them are reports in which the effect turns into drowsiness or a heavy body feeling after the first phase. The best-documented version is the sativa-leaning one from the Spanish breeder Green Devil Genetics, a cross of Orange Bud and Haze; other breeders list strains of the same name with their own lineage.
Community Experiences:
Consumers consistently describe a fast-onset, clear cerebral high. Mentioned are good mood, fits of giggling, drive, creativity and focus, partly accompanied by a warm tingling in the body. Several reports rate the strain as very strong.
Deviating from this, some consumers found Orange Haze mainly relaxing despite its sativa emphasis, while for others the energizing initial phase turned into tiredness and couchlock. One report describes a pronounced low after the effect wore off. As side effects, the reports name dry mouth and dry eyes, one also a severe urge to cough; strain descriptions additionally list nervousness and paranoia.
The buds are described as dense and frosty, with orange to copper-colored hairs, in which they resemble the parent Orange Bud according to strain descriptions.
Aroma and Flavor:
Orange and citrus shape scent and flavor, accompanied by sweetness. Strain descriptions add earthy and spicy tones in the scent as well as pine and tropical fruit in the flavor. Pine also appears in consumer reports; one report additionally notes a skunky note, another, alongside citrus, a smell of ammonia. Strain descriptions name pinene, limonene and myrcene as dominant terpenes but give no analysis for this.
Orange Haze was awarded for its smell at the 2016 Oregon Dope Cup: according to the submitting grow operation, it took 1st place in the nose rating of the Medical category.
Genetics and Origin:
By its own account, Green Devil Genetics crossed a selected Orange Bud with an American Haze whose line has been maintained since the 1970s. The citrus flavor the strain inherits from Orange Bud is highlighted by the breeder as a homage to the Spanish Mediterranean region. The breeder puts the sativa share at 65 %.
THC Content:
Green Devil Genetics gives 18 to 20 % THC for its own version, while other strain descriptions state 20 %.
Cultivation:
The following information comes from Green Devil Genetics. The breeder states 63 to 65 days of flowering; outdoors the strain is ready for harvest between 15 and 25 October. For indoor cultivation the breeder gives 500 to 600 g/m², outdoors 350 to 600 g per plant. Its Orange Haze is accordingly suited to indoor and outdoor growing and grows vigorously into plants of 2.5 to 3 m with large internodal spacing.
Despite the sativa emphasis, it is said to form dense buds with little foliage, which makes trimming easier. The breeder describes the strain as resistant to pests and fungal infestation and as undemanding in nutrient needs. Feminized seeds are documented.
Versions from Different Breeders:
DutchFem distributes a feminized cross of Orange Dream and Amnesia Haze under the name, with an 80 % sativa share. The breeder states 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, an average height of 100 to 130 cm and, for indoor cultivation, 500 to 550 g/m²; no THC content is given. Its strain description, however, mentions a Haze from the 1970s and Orange Bud as starting material, which contradicts the stated lineage.
Taylormade Selections lists an Orange Haze from Orange Street and Super Silver Haze that has only been released as regular seeds. The lineage overview of the same strain shows Tang instead of Orange Street.
