The name Mimosa Cake is documented mainly for autoflower strains: Fast Buds and Pure Instinto have each crossed Mimosa × Wedding Cake with an unspecified ruderalis. The parent lines themselves are well documented. Mimosa comes from Symbiotic Genetics and traces back to Clementine and Purple Punch, Wedding Cake to Seed Junky Genetics. Which breeder first made the photoperiod base cross cannot be determined from the sources.
Genetics and Origin:
Wedding Cake is regarded as phenotype 23 of Triangle Mints, a cross of Triangle Kush, which circulates only as a clone, and Animal Mints from Seed Junky Genetics. Clementine, one of Mimosa's parent strains, is attributed to Crockett Family Farms. Fast Buds gives the lineage of its version as (Mimosa × Wedding Cake) × unknown ruderalis, and one strain description also attributes the name without any suffix to this breeder.
Figures for the ratio of sativa to indica differ. Pure Instinto puts its version at 65 % sativa and 35 % indica. For the Fast Buds version, figures of 60 % sativa as well as 60 % indica can be found, and another description lists Mimosa Cake, without reference to a version, as a balanced hybrid at 50 % each. One source names Purple Punch Auto and Clementine as parents, which is the lineage of Mimosa itself; the others stay with Mimosa and Wedding Cake.
Versions from Different Breeders:
Fast Buds lists Mimosa Cake Auto only as feminized seeds and states 24 % THC with 0 to 1 % CBD. Indoors the plants are said to reach around 120 cm and yield up to 550 g/m², outdoors up to 150 g per plant. From seed to harvest the breeder estimates 9 to 10 weeks. The main terpenes named for this version are ocimene and limonene.
The Pure Instinto version is also feminized and autoflowering. The breeder expects around 70 days from seed, up to 550 g/m² indoors and 60 to 120 g per plant outdoors, at a height of up to 120 cm. Pure Instinto likewise gives 24 % THC, with myrcene and limonene as dominant terpenes. Another description of the same version differs on duration and outdoor yield. As for growth habit, the breeder describes a long main cola with well-developed side shoots.
THC and CBD Content:
Strain descriptions that do not refer to a specific version give 17 to 18 % THC for Mimosa Cake, one of them 0 % CBD. That is well below the 24 % with which the two breeders describe their autoflower, although one of these descriptions attributes the strain to Fast Buds.
Lab Results:
A producer has published a single measurement on flowers listed as Mimosa × Wedding Cake; no laboratory is named. The sample contained 20.1 % THCA, 0.25 % delta-9-THC and 0.09 % CBG, and the terpene content was 3.19 %. Beta-caryophyllene made up by far the largest share of the terpenes, followed by limonene, alpha-humulene, linalool and ocimene. Myrcene, which strain descriptions list as the dominant terpene, played a minor role in this sample.
Aroma and Flavor:
Fast Buds describes a fruity, very sweet aroma with an earthy note. In flavor, earthy and floral notes are followed by lemon, tropical fruit and wild berry with a slight acidity. Pure Instinto speaks of citrus, sugar and diesel. Other strain descriptions emphasize orange and creamy vanilla, accompanied by spicy and herbal hints. One user report mentions tropical fruit, sage and hops, along with pine, mint and basil; reports on a single batch mention floral notes, sweet cake, and cheesy and skunky tones.
Effects:
Several user reports describe a stimulating, euphoric effect accompanied by focus, talkativeness and creativity. One report describes a calm, clear state, another a short, strong head high, a third a slight tingling. In reports on a single batch, by contrast, the effect is in part heavy and strong. Strain descriptions list dry mouth, dizziness and paranoia as side effects; individual reports mention coughing, thirst and a brief phase of restlessness at a higher amount.
Cultivation:
Both breeders rate their version as easy to grow and describe it as suitable for indoor and outdoor. A description of the Fast Buds version portrays compact plants with dense, resinous flowers and advises LST so that more light reaches the interior. Individual phenotypes then turn violet to pink under cool conditions. A user report also describes purple, heavily frosted flowers, and Pure Instinto highlights a dense, sticky trichome coverage.
