Platinum Purple Kush
also known as Platinum Purple, Purple Platinum
Platinum Purple Kush is regarded as an offshoot of Purple Kush with no known breeder; descriptions mention a grape aroma and effects that are euphoric at first, then physically heavy.
Platinum Purple Kush has no breeder known by name. A California producer describes the exact origin as unclear and traces the strain back to Purple Kush; other strain descriptions name the same parent line and assume it arose on the US West Coast. Besides the full name, the short forms Platinum Purple and Purple Platinum are in use.
Genetics and Origin:
The profiles classify the strain differently. One description lists it as a pure indica, another as an indica-dominant hybrid with 90 % indica, a third as a balanced hybrid. For a Canadian product called Purple Platinum, by contrast, a cross of Colombian Gold and Afghani Kush is given, which is a different lineage from the one traced back to Purple Kush.
Aroma and Flavor:
Grape is the note on which the descriptions agree. Earthy tones and violet are added, and some profiles also list berries, grapefruit and sweetness. The dominant terpenes are given as caryophyllene, myrcene and humulene; another profile puts valencene first, followed by humulene. These terpene details come from strain profiles, not from published analyses.
User reports add berries and earth, occasionally pine, diesel and a hash-like taste. One report describes the smell when consumed as pungent and skunky. There are dissenting voices: one report finds almost no aroma at all, another found the taste unpleasant and the smoke harsh.
Effects:
User reports describe a course that begins in the head and ends in the body. It starts with euphoria and good mood, in part with concentration kept intact, followed by heavy physical relaxation up to drowsiness and strong couch lock. Individual reports also mention giddiness, talkativeness, creativity and sexual arousal. In contrast, some found the strain relaxing without strong sedation, others found the effect weaker than expected.
Dry mouth and dry eyes appear as side effects, along with dizziness and nervousness. In one report, paranoia occurred at a higher dose.
THC and CBD Content:
For THC, strain descriptions give values between 18 and 26 %; according to these figures, CBD stays below 1 %. The ratio marks the strain as THC-dominant. These are profile figures, not measurements of individual batches. One user report mentions a product declared at 27 % THC.
Cultivation:
Several strain descriptions give a flowering time of 8 to 9 weeks, while another profile states 48 to 58 days. One user report describes the plant as robust, with dark to medium green foliage.
Accounts of the flowers diverge. One profile speaks of large, leafy buds in light green and purple under a silvery coating of resin, whereas a user report speaks of dense, well-formed and very resinous flowers. Coloring in the reports ranges from purple throughout to green, under whose trichome layer the purple barely shows. Individual responses criticize quality that varies by producer, one of them a careless trim with many brown leaf remnants.
