Jungle Mints
Jungle Mints is a hybrid by Jungle Boys from Jungle Cake and LA Kush Cake, with an aroma and flavor that combine mint with melon, mango and a light gasoline note.
Mint accounts for only part of the aroma of Jungle Mints. Jungle Boys from Los Angeles describes the scent of its own cross as fresh and slightly spicy, with a hint of honeydew melon and a sour finish carrying a trace of gasoline. For flavor, the breeder puts tropical notes with a touch of mango first. The parent strains Jungle Cake and LA Kush Cake both come from Seed Junky Genetics and have Wedding Cake in their lineage.
Aroma and Flavor:
Other strain descriptions set the emphasis differently. One names earth, skunk and menthol, another an earthy, skunky base note with diesel and sour orange that is said to turn into spicy menthol on the exhale. Caryophyllene is listed as the dominant terpene, followed by limonene and myrcene in an order that varies depending on the source.
Consumers describe an earthy opening followed by pepper, mint over an earthy base, or citrus with a sharp, hard-to-pin-down note. Gas in the flavor is mentioned in 2 reports, a bitter aftertaste in 2 others, which in one case lingered for a long time.
Effects:
Relaxation is the common denominator of the user reports, and some of them add sleepiness. One consumer describes a euphoric, head-heavy start that later settles into calm; a strain description outlines the same course. Alongside these are reports that found the strain focusing, creative or sociable. One used it throughout the day without feeling dulled, another found it stimulating.
Reports on concentrates are considerably stronger. They describe a rapid onset and a heavy body effect that, by one consumer's own account, left them unable to move. Dry mouth and dry eyes are named as accompanying effects, along with heavy eyelids, a sharp tingling in the nose and, in one case, pronounced exhaustion.
THC Content:
Strain descriptions give the THC content as 22 to 29 %. One user report refers to flowers with 24 %.
Genetics and Origin:
Jungle Cake traces back to a phenotype of White Fire and to Wedding Cake, LA Kush Cake to Wedding Cake and Kush Mints. A press report also assigns LA Kush Cake to Seed Junky Genetics and names Jungle Boys as distributor. Kush Mints itself came from Bubba Kush and Animal Mints. One strain description classifies Jungle Mints as a balanced hybrid with equal indica and sativa proportions.
Behind Jungle Boys are the growers Ivan and Juice from Southern California, who teamed up after their separate grow sites had been raided and together built a dispensary with its own cultivation. The breeder has used Jungle Mints itself in further work: a renewed cross with Jungle Cake produced Jungle Fire. To be distinguished from this is ICC Jungle Mints, a flower sold in Canada whose lineage is given as ICC, Kush Mints, GMO and Jungle Cake.
Cultivation:
According to the available descriptions, Jungle Mints can be grown indoors and outdoors; feminized seeds were never offered. Jungle Boys describes the flowers as very dense and mint green, studded with orange pistils and completely covered in white trichomes. Another description speaks of spade-shaped, dark olive-green buds with a purple undertone. In user reports the flowers are described as firm and sticky, in one report as rather loose.
