Monkey Mints by Exotic Genetix crosses Grease Monkey with Mint Chocolate Chip; its aroma is described as mint, skunk and gas with a chemical spiciness.
Strain descriptions characterize the aroma of Monkey Mints as heavy and pungent: skunk and gas form the base, topped by a sharp, chemical-like spiciness and a distinct mint note, underpinned by earthy tones. The cross of Grease Monkey and Mint Chocolate Chip comes from Exotic Genetix in the US state of Washington and is listed as a balanced hybrid with 50 % indica and 50 % sativa.
On the inhale the mint stays in the foreground, while spicy and chemical notes come through on the exhale. Individual descriptions add vanilla and diesel, others a sweet cookie note with a cool mint finish or hints of butter and tobacco. Consumers report a smell reminiscent of chocolate mint, with a taste of pepper and an ice-cream-like sweetness.
Several strain descriptions name caryophyllene as the defining terpene, accompanied by limonene and myrcene. One source puts myrcene in first place.
Exotic Genetix combined two in-house lines for this strain. The mother is Grease Monkey, a cross of Gorilla Glue #4 (Original Glue in other descriptions) and Cookies and Cream. Mint Chocolate Chip served as the father, which according to one strain description goes back to SinMint Cookies and a backcross of Green Ribbon. The breeder released Monkey Mints as regular seeds.
Deviating from this, a single strain description lists Animal Mints instead of Mint Chocolate Chip as the second parent, without naming a breeder. Exotic Genetix later used Monkey Mints itself for further breeding, for example for Jungle Fruit from the cross with Strawberries & Cream. Further offspring on record are Liver Kick and Platinum Chimpanzee by Tarantula Genetics as well as a cross with Rollex OG by AntiStressCrew.
A progression in stages is described. First come a cerebral rush and giddiness, followed by a tingling in the body that turns into heavy body relaxation up to couch-lock and finally into tiredness. Because of this increasing heaviness, two descriptions assign the strain to the evening and night. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are named as side effects; one description additionally mentions red eyes and, at high doses, paranoia.
12 user reports were evaluated. Recurring mentions are good mood, giggling, relaxation and a tingling in the body, along with a pronounced body effect that can end in drowsiness. Two reports, by contrast, describe a more activating effect: one speaks of creative focus and more energy, another of an energetic start despite a noticeable body effect.
One consumer found the strain very strong, another criticized dry flowers alongside a powerful head effect. In a further report, dizziness and lightheadedness occurred on first use and did not return the next time.
THC figures in strain descriptions range from 15 to 23 %. For CBD, one description gives 0.40 to 0.61 %, while another lists 1 % CBG.
For the Exotic Genetix version, strain descriptions give a flowering time of 56 to 63 days indoors; outdoors the harvest is set for late September to early October. The plants stay medium-height to compact and form broad leaves. A bush topped several times is named as the training form, indoors and outdoors alike, and the yield is considered high.
Assessments of difficulty differ: two descriptions consider the strain easy to grow, a third moderately demanding and more suited to advanced growers. The dried flowers are described as light green and loose with a purple sheen, but in one source as compact and dense.
Besides the regular seeds from Exotic Genetix, Crop King Seeds lists a feminized Monkey Mints with the same stated parents, without explaining the origin of the genetics. For this version Crop King Seeds gives 8 weeks of flowering, 18 % THC and 1 % CBD, a yield of 500 to 550 g/m² indoors and 700 to 750 g per plant outdoors, and a plant height of 5 to 8 feet. The company gives temperate conditions as the climate, and the outdoor harvest accordingly falls in late September to early October.

Short plants with broad leaves (weedmaps), medium height (seedfinder). Dried flowers light green and loose with purple tones (budsgoods, ilovegrowingmarijuana); another description mentions dense, compact flowers (strainpedia). Because of the contradiction, bud_structure not set.
Both descriptions name a bush topped several times as the growth form, for indoors as well as outdoors.
Several breeders sell their own versions under this name. Each figure comes from the respective breeder.
