Jungle Cake

The published test data for Jungle Cake do not name a testing laboratory; they are single values from individual batches cited in strain reviews. For a batch of the cross of White Fire #43 and Wedding Cake sold in Illinois in 2022, 24.90 % THCA, 0.60 % delta-9-THC and 4.17 % total terpenes were reported. Limonene led the terpene profile there, followed by β-caryophyllene, linalool, β-pinene and α-pinene; shares of the individual terpenes are not published. Other strain descriptions put myrcene or β-caryophyllene in first place.

THC and CBD Content:

A batch reviewed in 2019 was listed with 27.93 % THC and 0.01 % CBD; going by this pair of values, the strain is clearly THC-dominant. In personal accounts, figures of 27.17 % and 29 % THC appear for purchased flowers. Well below that is a common strain description that gives 21 % THC and 1 % CBG. None of these values is confirmed more than once; they vary with batch, cultivation and phenotype.

Genetics and Origin:

The strain was bred by Seed Junky Genetics. White Fire #43, also called WiFi 43, is regarded as a phenotype of White Fire OG, while Wedding Cake traces back to Cherry Pie and Girl Scout Cookies. The Jungle Boys spread Jungle Cake commercially, and according to one strain description it is passed on only as a cutting; no seed line is described. For the ratio of indica to sativa, strain descriptions give 50 % each, whereas one reviewer classed it as indica-dominant.

The cutting is also documented as a parent. Old School Genetics crossed it with Banana Ripple #17 to make Banana Jungle, and the Jungle Boys themselves used it for Junglato with a Gelato TK line and for Bakers Man with Mitten Cake Batter.

Aroma and Flavor:

In strain descriptions, pastry sweetness and vanilla sit alongside black pepper, roasted nuts and diesel. Reviews of individual batches add citrus, pine and earth, in one case mint and berries, in another geranium. One reviewer found marshmallow with a peach-like aftertaste, and one consumer smelled earthy garlic and softwood.

Effects:

Reports describe elevated mood with a talkative and silly note, along with euphoria and creativity. One detailed review describes a stimulating, head-centered onset followed by heavy relaxation in the body and later tiredness. Impressions of strength diverge: a very strong effect is mentioned repeatedly, one consumer found the strain weaker than expected, and another felt it was so heavy that a hangover-like feeling remained. Reported side effects include dry mouth, headaches and inner restlessness, and one strain description adds dry eyes and dizziness.

Cultivation:

Strain descriptions give a flowering time of 8 to 10 weeks, one of them naming mid-October as the outdoor harvest time. Another expects up to 14 weeks to full maturity and considers cultivation indoors and outdoors, in soil and hydroponics, to be possible.

One documented indoor grow came to 65 days of flowering. The plant stretched strongly, formed many long, sturdy side shoots with thick buds, and needed a lot of vertical space as well as supports during flowering. It tolerated supercropping, SCROG and topping of the main shoot well, and fluctuations in fertilizer and temperature bothered it little. The grower rated the yield as very high; the dried buds were hard and compact with a good bud-to-leaf ratio.

Reviews describe the buds as dense and resinous, with heavy white trichome coverage and reddish-orange pistils; one batch also showed purple tones alongside green.
