Gelato 33 × Wedding Cake, around 70 % indica; documented in only one strain description, breeder attribution not confirmed by a second source.
Vanilla Cake
Vanilla Cake refers to several crosses, mostly involving Wedding Cake; the best documented is Kush Mints × Wedding Cake, alongside L.A. Vanilla Cake from Silent Seeds.
At least 4 different lineages circulate under the name Vanilla Cake, 3 of them with Wedding Cake as a parent. The sources do not agree on an original breeder. Best documented is a cross of Kush Mints and Wedding Cake, grown under this name by a licensed producer in California; a batch of it was reviewed in a 2023 press report from Illinois. Silent Seeds, in turn, crossed Ice Cream Cake with Wedding Cake and released the result as L.A. Vanilla Cake, also in an autoflower version.
Versions from Different Breeders:
For L.A. Vanilla Cake, Silent Seeds states an indica share of 70 %, while another description of the same strain gives 75 %. According to the breeder, the feminized, photoperiod plant flowers for 60 to 65 days and yields 550 to 600 g/m² indoors and 1300 to 1500 g per plant outdoors, at a height of up to 3 m. THC is given as 20 to 25 %.
The autoflower version, L.A. Vanilla Cake Auto, is feminized only. From germination to harvest the breeder expects 12 to 13 weeks, with a maximum of 250 g per plant outdoors. The accounts of its parentage differ: one mentions Ice Cream Cake × Wedding Cake Auto, the other L.A. Vanilla Cake × Wedding Cake Auto. For THC content, 17 to 20 % stands alongside 20 %.
Only 2 further lines are documented by a single source each. One strain description lists Vanilla Cake as Gelato 33 × Wedding Cake and names Seed Junky Genetics as the breeder. Another describes a balanced hybrid of East Coast Sour Diesel and Sundae Brunch without naming a breeder.
Cultivation:
What is known about cultivation refers to L.A. Vanilla Cake from Silent Seeds. The breeder describes strong, slender plants with high nutrient demand and advises SOG, SCROG or FIM with a vegetative phase of no more than 3 weeks; a retailer considers 3 to 4 weeks with training methods appropriate and rates cultivation as moderately difficult, the autoflower version as easy. Outdoors in the Northern Hemisphere, the plant is ready for harvest from mid to late October.
According to the breeder, resin forms early and partly shows purple tones, and the buds are described as very firm. Customer reports from growers confirm dense, resinous buds and uncomplicated growth. In one report, a plant stayed compact and bushy at around 120 cm, unlike the slender growth habit in the breeder's description.
Aroma and Flavor:
Vanilla and a creamy note recur in the descriptions of the different lines. In 3 independent strain descriptions, citrus and pepper are added, and one of them compares the taste to orange-and-cream ice cream and names a peppery aftertaste.
The 2023 review of the Kush Mints line records dough, peanut butter and vanilla over an earthy, musky base; after grinding, mint and sage came through. On the inhale, the sample tasted of creamy cake with a light berry note, on the exhale of earth. For L.A. Vanilla Cake, Silent Seeds describes phenotypes that lean toward sweet vanilla cream or lemon meringue, each with earthy and floral components.
Effects:
In the user reports reviewed, relaxation, elevated mood with giggliness and increased appetite recur; for the evening, some consumers describe sleepiness. Several reports describe a slow onset in which the body relaxes first. One consumer described a markedly different state: focused and energizing, without physical heaviness. The 2023 review describes a gradually building, strong body effect with cerebral fog and an inward-turned mood. For L.A. Vanilla Cake, Silent Seeds describes a cerebral onset followed by a long-lasting physical effect.
Several reports name dry mouth as a side effect. One strain description also lists paranoia, and one grower reported strong couchlock.
Lab Results:
Published values for individual batches, each without a named lab, vary widely. One batch assigned to the Gelato 33 line showed 19.5 % THC, 0.06 % CBD and 0.15 % CBG, while the batch of the Kush Mints line reviewed in 2023 showed 26.9 % THCA with 0.12 % THC. These are single measurements; values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
Terpenes are also reported for the first batch: limonene at 0.73 mg/g ahead of linalool at 0.32 mg/g and beta-caryophyllene at 0.29 mg/g. A widely circulated strain description without information on genetics, by contrast, puts terpinolene first, followed by caryophyllene and pinene, and gives 17 % THC and 1 % CBG.
