With Bubble Bomb, Bomb Seeds puts scent first: the indica-dominant cross of Bubblegum and THC Bomb, the breeder's house genetics, is meant to smell intensely sweet and sugary, like bubblegum, and more clearly the further flowering progresses. For flavor, the breeder describes a candy-like sweetness with an earthy tone underneath.
Aroma and Flavor:
Other strain descriptions keep bubblegum as the main theme but set their own accents. One names apricot, berries and butter, another mint, lemon and citrus fruits. A third describes the taste as sweet with a slightly sour note and the scent additionally as earthy.
A compilation of historical laboratory measurements is available for the terpene profile. In it, myrcene leads with a median of 0.41 %, followed by limonene at 0.14 % and β-caryophyllene at 0.13 %.
Genetics and Origin:
Bomb Seeds stands behind the strain, according to one strain description a breeder from the Netherlands. The breeder calls the parent Bubblegum a Cannabis Cup winner; when selecting breeding plants, it focused on phenotypes that preserve its flavor and the potency of THC Bomb. Zkittlez Gum Bomb, likewise bred by Bomb Seeds, came out of Bubble Bomb.
In 2015, a grower described 2 phenotypes grown from seed: a compact, indica-leaning one that finishes quickly, and a more stretched, sativa-leaning one with a longer flowering period that reached about 3 feet after the stretch.
THC and CBD Content:
Bomb Seeds states 18 to 20 % THC. To be viewed separately is the mentioned compilation of laboratory measurements from December 2013 to January 2021: across 32 samples, the median was 19.7 % total THC, and the middle 80 % of values ranged from 15.3 to 22.0 %. Such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype. CBD was barely present in 7 measurements; the median was 0.0 %, and the middle 80 % of values were 0.1 % at most. One strain description gives 1 % for CBG.
Effects:
The breeder describes an indica-typical effect that is heavy and deeply relaxing, and long-lasting. One strain description depicts at first a euphoric, somewhat dreamy mood that turns into a strong body effect and finally into drowsiness.
Some user reports differ and describe the strain as stimulating, with creativity, focus and a tingling in the body. One report highlights exuberance and giggling, another description an arousing note. Dry eyes are named as a side effect, and one report also mentions a noticeable sluggishness in movement.
Cultivation:
According to Bomb Seeds, Bubble Bomb grows compact and bushy. The short internodes produce many bud sites; indoors, the breeder gives a final height of 55 to 95 cm, 8 to 9 weeks of flowering and 650 to 750 g/m². An older breeder description still spoke of around 600 g/m². Outdoors, the strain is said to be ready for harvest in late October, but it needs space and a warm, stable climate. Because of the dense flowers and dense foliage, the breeder advises good air circulation. The seed is feminized and photoperiod.
2 documented indoor runs came to 59 and 63 days of flowering. In the longer one, the plant stretched from about 50 to about 80 cm after the start of flowering, an increase of around 60 %. Both growers describe hard, compact flowers, tolerance of temperature fluctuations and feeding errors, and suitability for Sea of Green; one notes low nutrient demand. Impressions differ on side-shoot growth: one run produced many long, strong side shoots with thick flowers, the other few and rather short ones. The 63-day grow and the 2015 report rate topping positively.
Community Experiences:
Both grow profiles note resistance to fungal infestation, as does the report on the more stretched phenotype, which additionally highlights the plant's stress tolerance. One of the profiles, however, also states a susceptibility to mold. One grower rated the yield as high, the other as slightly below average. In buyer reviews of seeds, 2 people complain of low germination rates; in one case, 4 of 20 seeds germinated, and according to that review the plants that developed yielded flavorful flowers.
