Pine and earth define the smell of Master Yoda, a cross of OG Kush and Master Kush. A strain description adds vanilla and a musty undertone. In 2012 the strain, entered by Kush Connection, placed 2nd in the Indica category at the Bay Area Medical Cannabis Cup held by High Times.
Aroma and Flavor:
The descriptions also mention woody notes, spice and herbs. One source describes the flavor as a sequence from lemon through vanilla to orange. Consumers call it earthy and green, one also mossy; others taste pine with a little lemon or a sour earthy note. One report detects herbs with lavender and a sweet hint, another a cool sensation when smoking, a further one mainly sweetness. To one consumer the smell was too skunky, while another noticed above all its intensity. In 2 reports the smoke is described as harsh.
Strain descriptions list myrcene, limonene and caryophyllene as the dominant terpenes.
Genetics and Origin:
All sources give the same parentage, OG Kush and Master Kush; none names an original breeder. According to one strain profile, the strain comes from Florida and only later reached Southern California, where Kush Connection made it known. With it the group competed, according to the same text, at the High Times Cannabis Cup, the Secret Cup and the Medical Cannabis Cup in San Bernardino. For the Bay Area Medical Cannabis Cup in June 2012, 2nd place in the Best Indica category is documented. Several strain descriptions also list 1st place at the High Times Los Angeles Cannabis Cup in the same year, without naming a category.
On classification the sources differ: one description speaks of a predominantly indica-leaning hybrid, others list Master Yoda at 50 % indica and 50 % sativa. Other names in circulation are Master Yoda Kush and Yoda Kush; in pedigrees the strain also appears as Master Yoda OG.
Riot Seeds crossed Master Yoda OG with Zcube BX3 to create The Force. Beerus by Skunk Devil Genetics contains the strain through a cross with Golden Lemonz, which was then paired with 89 NL5.
Effects:
At the core of the reports is a combination of euphoria and relaxation that registers clearly in the body and can turn into tiredness after some time. Several consumers describe sitting as if glued to the armchair at higher doses.
Others found the strain more activating. They describe focus, creativity, drive and a clear head alongside relaxation, some also cheerfulness to the point of giggling. A thoughtful, inward-directed state is mentioned several times; one consumer noticed slowed thinking and little desire for company. 2 reports found the effect rather light.
As accompanying effects, strain descriptions list dry mouth, dry eyes and feelings of anxiety, one of them also paranoia and dizziness. Individual accounts describe dizziness, headaches or sudden falling asleep. Another consumer stresses having felt neither anxiety nor paranoia.
THC Content:
One strain description gives 17 to 20 % THC; several speak of measured values above 20 % without naming a lab. In 2 personal accounts, 21 % and 22.2 % are given for the respective flowers.
Cultivation:
Strain descriptions give the flowering time as 8 weeks; for outdoor cultivation one of them names early October as the harvest time. The plant is accordingly suited to indoor and outdoor growing and is considered robust; one source credits it with coping with adverse conditions too. The smell stands out and, according to one description, lingers for days after the plants have been removed.
Versions from Different Breeders:
According to strain information, the original line was never offered as feminized seed. Growers Choice is the source of Master Yoda Auto, a feminized autoflower version into which a ruderalis is crossed alongside OG Kush and Master Kush. The provider puts the proportions at 50 % sativa, 40 % indica and 10 % ruderalis and gives 50 to 60 days of flowering. For yield, Growers Choice states up to 450 g/m² indoors and up to 450 g per plant outdoors, for THC up to 28 %, elsewhere on the same page 24 %, and for CBD under 1 %. The provider describes the flowers as light green with faded purple and orange pistils, the aroma as earthy with vanilla and pine. It rates the version as easy to grow; according to the provider it prefers warm temperatures.
