Dr Greenthumb’s Em-Dog

Keif Sweat, a breeder in the band’s circle, crossed an OG Kush with phenotype #4 of Chemdawg for B-Real, co-founder of Cypress Hill. Humboldt Seed Organization lists the result as Dr Greenthumb’s Em-Dog and releases it exclusively as feminized seed. Grow reports on the strain go back to 2015. The descriptions disagree mainly on whether indica or sativa predominates.

Genetics and Origin:

In the breeder’s description, which reproduces another strain description, the OG Kush used carries the nickname Crippy and is listed as selection OGK3; the pedigree from the same source, by contrast, lists OGK4. There Em-Dog is also called an elite cutting from the USA.

Humboldt Seed Organization gives 70 % indica and 30 % sativa, and other strain descriptions adopt this ratio. Another states 60 % sativa and 40 % indica instead, and a flower producer classes the strain as a sativa-leaning hybrid. One grow report likewise describes growth and appearance as rather sativa-like.

Andina Seeds has crossed Em-Dog into several of its own strains: DR OG came from Em-Dog × Em-Dog, Tangerine OG from Tangie × Em-Dog and Super Lemon Kush from Super Lemon Haze × Em-Dog. At Sur Genetics, Em-Dog is a parent of Dr. Dog Mandarine together with Red Mandarine F1 Fast.

Aroma and Flavor:

Humboldt Seed Organization describes notes of tropical fruit, lemon, exotic wood and pine with an oily undertone; customer reviews on the breeder’s site add fuel and gas notes. In grow reports lemon, pine and earth come first, while other descriptions add a sweet component. One producer ranks diesel, pine and citrus above the tropical base aroma.

THC and CBD Content:

Humboldt Seed Organization states 22 to 27 % THC with 0.1 % CBD. Other strain descriptions give 20 to 27 % THC, and one merely 14 % THC plus 2 % CBG. The same description lists myrcene as the predominant terpene, followed by caryophyllene and ocimene.

Effects:

According to the breeder, Em-Dog acts slightly more physical than cerebral and moves into a long-lasting relaxation. Dinafem describes the course as a cerebral effect setting in first, which then leads into relaxation.

In grow reports the effect is considered relaxing and calming, strong and long-lasting. Other user reports mention euphoria, elevated mood, creativity and concentration, some also drowsiness. A producer, by contrast, describes the strain as stimulating. As side effects, individual reports mention dry mouth and headaches.

Cultivation:

For indoor growing, Humboldt Seed Organization gives 63 to 68 days of flowering and 450 to 600 g/m². Outdoors, according to the breeder, harvest takes place in mid-October; the plants reach 3 to 4 m there and yield 1000 to 2000 g per plant. As climate, the breeder names warm, dry regions of temperate or Mediterranean character and also lists the greenhouse as suitable. Dinafem describes medium-sized plants with a sturdy structure and medium internodal spacing, Humboldt Seed Organization thick, compact buds with dense resin coverage.

Another strain description differs markedly: 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, harvest in late September, 450 to 500 g/m² indoors and 600 to 900 g per plant outdoors. A further description rates the difficulty as moderate.

Community Experiences:

The indoor grow reports evaluated give a flowering time of about 60 days. After the start of flowering, the plants stretched by 47 to 180 % and ended at 70 to 110 cm. A fir-tree-shaped, stable growth is described; the number of side shoots ranges from few to many. The dried buds are considered hard and compact, the ratio of flower to leaf mass good.

2 reports highlight tolerance of temperature fluctuations and fertilizing errors, 2 mention low susceptibility to mold, one of them additionally good tolerance of low temperatures. One grower recommends supporting the plants in flowering, another reports uniform results in a SCROG net. A further report highlights compact growth and early onset of flowering.
