Ebola #7 owes its name to the path the plant took after 2012: the cross from HendRx Farms spread unplanned from farm to farm across Humboldt County in California. In the region it first circulated as THCbola Virus, shortened to THCBola. The breeder chose it in a phenotype hunt of 100 seeds that ran in 3 stages; according to HendRx, the deciding factor was above all the THC content, judged by results from SC Labs.
Genetics and Origin:
The mother is a San Fernando Valley OG (SFV OG). In summer 2012 she was pollinated with a Girl Scout Cookies (GSC) that, according to the breeder, came from Harborside Health Center, and HendRx obtained the first seeds from that flower. The breeder classifies Ebola #7 as an indica-dominant hybrid; other strain descriptions put the ratio at 75 % indica to 25 % sativa.
As a parent, the strain appears in CC 33 by Canna Country, a cross of Ebola #7, Girl Scout Thin Mint and Purple Hazē.
Aroma and Flavor:
HendRx names diesel and earth as scent notes. Other strain descriptions add pine and a sharp pungency; for flavor they list pine, diesel, pineapple, citrus and a sweet component. User reports note the strong smell, several of them with lemon, one comparing it to a pine-scented cleaning product. One report, by contrast, found Ebola #7 less pungent than GSC.
The breeder lists beta-caryophyllene, alpha-humulene, limonene, linalool and alpha-bisabolol as terpenes, without giving proportions. Another strain description puts limonene, caryophyllene and myrcene at the top.
Effects:
User reports describe a stimulating effect with talkativeness, creativity and euphoria, some also giddiness or heightened desire. In addition, several reports mention pronounced physical relaxation; in one case the heaviness was so marked that the consumer could hardly get off the sofa. HendRx lists, among other things, concentration, euphoria, a slowed sense of time and sharpened senses, but also racing thoughts. Dry mouth and dry eyes are named as side effects, and other strain descriptions also mention paranoia and anxiety.
THC Content:
HendRx states 30 % THC and gives 31.7 % as the highest value from SC Labs analyses, without a year or certificate; the breeder puts the sum of cannabinoids at 33.6 %. Other strain descriptions give 24 to 28 % THC depending on the cultivation method, one of them additionally 1 % CBG.
Cultivation:
For indoor cultivation HendRx gives 56 to 60 days of flowering; outdoors, the harvest falls in early to mid October according to the breeder. Other strain descriptions arrive at 7 to 9 weeks and give late September to mid October for outdoors.
The breeder describes medium internode spacing, dense flowers and very robust plants; besides green, the breeder also lists orange and red as colors. One user report describes heavily frosted buds and a good yield with careful cultivation, another calls the flowers sticky but leafy.
Community Experiences:
The breeder's origin story does not go unchallenged. Individual reports claim that a strain of this name was already in circulation in the 1990s, which could not be reconciled with a GSC cross from 2012; another considers Ebola #7 a pure Durban phenotype. The authors cite no evidence. Apart from this debate, the verdict is mostly favorable, although one consumer found the strain solid but unremarkable.
