Golden Kush

Hybrid

Golden Kush is listed by SnowHigh Seeds, Goldenseed and Golden Farm in differing versions; in descriptions the aroma ranges from diesel and pepper to mild citrus.

Research as of 10/09/2026

The aroma of Golden Kush ranges in descriptions from diesel and pepper to a mild, sweetish smoke with a light citrus note. None of the sources names an original breeder. Seeds under the name are listed by SnowHigh Seeds, Goldenseed and Golden Farm, whose details on genetics, classification and flowering time differ from one another. Descriptions emphasize dense buds covered in golden hairs and large trichomes.

Aroma and Flavor:

The strain descriptions diverge in detail. One summarizes the flavor as floral with diesel and earthy elements and lists caryophyllene as the dominant terpene, followed by linalool and myrcene. Another places the smell in the skunk spectrum with earthy and pungent notes, names herbs and spices with lemon and candy-like sweetness in the flavor, and describes the profile as a whole as mild.

In user reports, diesel appears repeatedly in the flavor, along with a pepper note in the smell and a recognizable Kush character. A report from 2011 on organically grown buds from the Lake Tahoe area, by contrast, describes a gentle smoke with barely perceptible citrus. SnowHigh Seeds explains the range for its own version by phenotype: depending on expression, the plant smells sweet or skunky, in the manner of older Skunk lines. Goldenseed speaks of a light scent for its version.

Versions from Different Breeders:

Only SnowHigh Seeds publishes a pedigree. The mother side combines Colombian Gold, Green Chitrali and Acapulco Gold, with C99 as the father. The breeder classifies this version as 70 % Indica and 30 % Sativa, gives 9 to 10 weeks of flowering, a stretch factor of 1 to 1.5 and 2 phenotypes, and describes heavy main shoots with strong resin production. Seeds existed only in regular form.

Goldenseed lists Golden Kush as an Indica, exclusively feminized and with 56 days of flowering. The provider rates yield and THC content as high and CBD content as medium, without giving figures; thick, frosted buds are described. The Golden Farm version is also feminized and classified as 100 % Indica. The provider gives 55 to 63 days of flowering, 22 % THC, a height of 130 cm, and a yield of 450 g/m² indoors and 650 g/m² outdoors. Whether the 3 lines are genetically related cannot be derived from the information given.

THC Content:

Two strain descriptions give 23 and 24 % THC respectively, one of them also 1 % CBG. Among the providers, only Golden Farm states a THC content, at 22 % for its own version.

Effects:

The user reports do not paint a uniform picture. Some describe relaxation and an uplifted mood, others creative drive and energy; increased desire is mentioned several times, and in one report also giggliness. The 2011 report describes a calm, creative phase that turned into sleepiness after a few hours. One strain description gives the duration of effects as about 2 hours. SnowHigh Seeds describes the effect of its version as slightly stimulating and at the same time subduing.

Side effects mentioned are dry mouth and dry eyes, as well as headache and dizziness. One report mentions an urge to cough, another considers paranoia possible in less seasoned consumers.

Consensus

Diesel is repeatedly mentioned in the flavor, along with pepper in the smell and a Kush character. Dry mouth and dry eyes appear as side effects.

Divergent reports

The effects are described partly as relaxing and mood-lifting, partly as creative and energetic; a report from 2011 (buds from the Lake Tahoe area) describes a mild, sweetish aroma with light citrus and later sleepiness instead of the diesel and pepper notes of other reports.
