In user reports, consumers single out the flavor of Honeysuckle as strikingly sweet; a few mention a slightly sour note, and one report recognizes the honeysuckle blossom the name refers to. Reports on the effects agree less. Two things circulate under the name: a hybrid of unnamed parent strains and a cross of Starburst OG and Black Cherry Honey from In House Genetics; none of the sources shows that both trace back to the same plant.
Effects:
Euphoria and a sexually arousing effect appear in several reports. Accounts differ on drive. Some consumers describe energy, creativity and a tingling in the body, others a relaxation they call a complete slowing down. In keeping with this, one report places the strain closer to the indica side, while another sees a slight sativa tendency. Strain descriptions add talkativeness and an uplifted mood. In one report the effect lasted longer than the stated THC content would suggest.
Dry eyes are named as a side effect, and a single strain description also lists panic attacks and a rapid heartbeat. Verdicts are mixed: positive ratings are matched by reports that found the strain mediocre or unimpressive.
Aroma and Flavor:
Strain descriptions portray a sweet, floral scent shot through with sage and apple. On the palate, honey and a strong earthiness join in, and woody notes are mentioned elsewhere. One user report stresses the pungent smell on first opening, another describes a mix of sourness and fruit.
Myrcene is given as the dominant terpene, accompanied by pinene and limonene. Another strain description instead puts carene first, followed by myrcene and camphene; it does not say which lab these values come from.
Genetics and Origin:
In the common description, Honeysuckle is regarded as a cross of unspecified hybrids, and no breeder is named. According to one strain description it is shaped 50 % each by indica and sativa and reaches 13 to 17 % THC. The same source describes the flowers as dark olive green with a violet sheen, amber hairs and a milky resin coating; one user report also mentions very dark buds.
Versions from Different Breeders:
The lineage of the In House Genetics version is better documented. It goes back to Starburst OG and Black Cherry Honey, a line from the same breeder made from (Cannalope Haze × Slurricane #44) × Black Cherry Pie bx1. The seeds are feminized, and the plants flower photoperiodically.
The strain description that goes back to In House Genetics names 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, tall, open growth, medium to high yields and a hash yield of about 5 %. Other descriptions of this version give the flowering time as 8 to 10 weeks and rate height and yield as medium. The version is described for indoor as well as outdoor cultivation. According to the breeder, melon dominates the aroma, accompanied by grape and gas, while another description highlights ripe cherry and floral notes with a sweet-sour character.
