Lineage (Chemdog-D x Triangle-Kush) x Jet-Fuel Gelato; suitable for indoors, outdoors and greenhouse.
Marshmallow OG from Compound Genetics combines Chemdog D x Triangle Kush with Jet Fuel Gelato and won the sativa flower category at the 2022 Hash Bash Cup.
A submission of Marshmallow OG, a cross of Chemdog D, Triangle Kush and Jet Fuel Gelato, took 1st place among sativa flowers at the Hash Bash Cup 2022 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. At the Farmers Cup 2023 in San Diego, the strain placed 2nd in the Sungrown Flower category and also received the Best Smokability award. One producer's strain page also cites 2 High Times Cannabis Cup wins, but gives neither a year nor a category.
Marshmallow OG was bred by Compound Genetics. Strain descriptions give the lineage as (Chemdog D x Triangle Kush) x Jet Fuel Gelato and trace Triangle Kush back to a plant from the Emerald Triangle and Hindu Kush, and Jet Fuel Gelato to Jet Fuel and Gelato. For the Compound version, one seed retailer names Chem Cookies instead of Chemdog D, which differs from the other descriptions.
A cut, number 9, was selected from seed. A cutting supplier lists Marshmallow OG #9 as a breeder cut chosen after a phenotype hunt; Compound Genetics crossed this plant with The Menthol to make Jet Puft. Other documented offspring are Fluff Fumez from Bloom Seed Co, a cross with Candy Fumez, as well as Pillows and Johnny Dang from Ethos Genetics.
Sweetness meets fuel in the scent. Strain descriptions name vanilla, butter and pepper, along with lemon, orange and floral notes; another stresses diesel, pine and wood. Wyeast Farms describes its own version as a gassy kush with a fruity undertone, while Paradise Seeds speaks of marshmallow sweetness over gasoline with a lingering earthy finish in the flavor. A 2022 press report noted nutty and gassy notes with a sweet touch. For cut #9, the cutting supplier adds mint, skunk and a chemical component.
Limonene is considered the leading terpene in strain descriptions, followed by caryophyllene and myrcene. A flower batch tested in Massachusetts showed limonene, caryophyllene and linalool as the main terpenes at 2.44 % total terpenes. A Canadian producer, by contrast, lists myrcene, farnesene and caryophyllene for its flower.
User reports describe the effect as relaxing and euphoric, some also as cheerful to silly. Some describe a heavy, sedating calm, others a stimulating head effect at the start that later turns into relaxation. A 2022 press report described a relaxation that spreads through the whole body without becoming too head-heavy. For its own version, Paradise Seeds puts an energizing, cerebral onset in the foreground. Dry mouth, dry eyes and paranoia are listed as side effects.
One strain description gives 20 to 26 % THC, another 20 % THC and around 1 % CBG. Measured is a single flower batch from Massachusetts: 22.38 % total THC with 25.1 % THCA, 0.25 % CBD, 0.83 % CBG and 0.11 % THCV. The lab and the test year are not shown in the published data. As a single measurement, the value does not reflect how much the content varies by batch, cultivation and phenotype.
For cut #9, the cutting supplier states 63 to 68 days of flowering indoors and harvest readiness in mid-October outdoors; it rates cultivation as moderately difficult. For the Compound version, indoor, outdoor and greenhouse are listed as locations.
A seed retailer describes the plant as slender, with long main shoots of dense flowers that can turn red to purple. One strain description puts the stretch after the start of flowering at about 1.5 times and mentions short internodes and eggplant-colored tones when it gets cooler in late flowering. A 2022 press report described frosted, dark green flowers with purple and orange areas. Because of the compact flowers, a grow description advises steady air movement and controlled humidity. A grower in Michigan who raised cuttings outdoors called the plants very large even before flowering and asked how to prevent bud rot in a damp autumn.
Compound Genetics gives around 63 days of flowering for the original version and offers it as feminized seeds. Under the same lineage, a version from Wyeast Farms is listed with about 68 days of flowering indoors and feminized seeds; how it relates to the Compound line is not clarified by the sources. Paradise Seeds lists Marshmallow OG as part of a collection with Compound Genetics and gives 65 to 70 days of flowering, 500 to 550 g/m² indoors, a height under 120 cm indoors and 24 to 28 % THC. The classification is inconsistent: Paradise Seeds states 75 % sativa, a seed retailer describes the Compound version as more than 60 % indica, and a Canadian producer lists its flower as indica-dominant.
