In cultivation, Sour Haze is described as a tall plant that needs height control indoors and is ready for harvest outdoors in mid-October. Several strain descriptions attribute resistance to mold and powdery mildew to it. Genetically it is regarded as a cross of Sour Diesel and an unspecified Haze; who bred it is not documented.
Cultivation:
For flowering, strain descriptions give 8 to 9 weeks, while Crop King Seeds lists 9 to 11 weeks for its feminized seeds. Both sources rate the difficulty as easy. The climate details differ: several descriptions mention warm, sunny conditions, another a semi-humid climate.
Crop King Seeds names the SCROG method as a way to increase yield. The flowers are described as loosely structured and popcorn-shaped, with orange hairs and dense trichome coverage; one user report highlights the strongly sticky trichomes.
Genetics and Origin:
All evaluated strain descriptions name Sour Diesel and an unknown Haze as parents. None of them names a breeder. One description calls the lineage only probable and explains the uncertainty by saying the breeders keep their genetics secret; another speaks of unknown breeders. In that second description Sour Haze appears as a pure sativa, while Crop King Seeds classes the variety as a sativa-dominant hybrid.
The information on availability is also contradictory. According to one strain description, Sour Haze exists only as a cutting, whereas Crop King Seeds lists feminized seeds under this name.
Lab Results:
SC Labs tested two batches from a Californian producer (SC Labs, 2025; SC Labs, 2026). Measured values were 32.3 and 28.1 % total THC, 0.14 % CBD in each, 2.2 to 2.9 % CBG and 0.27 % THCV in each; CBN was not detectable in either sample. Such values vary by batch, cultivation and phenotype. Strain descriptions give 19 to 26 % THC for Sour Haze, which puts them below both measurements.
Total terpene content was 3.8 and 3.5 %. In both samples terpinolene led at 1.29 to 1.43 %, followed by myrcene at 0.51 to 0.59 %, limonene at 0.45 to 0.46 % and ocimene at 0.28 to 0.33 %. One strain description also names terpinolene, myrcene and limonene in this order.
Aroma and Flavor:
Diesel runs through the descriptions of the smell. Added to this are citrus notes, mainly lemon, as well as grapefruit, earthy, spicy and skunky tones and a sour pungency. The taste is described as sweet lime with a diesel aftertaste. User reports individually add pine, mint, wood, a floral note reminiscent of rose, as well as orange and pineapple; one report found the smoke harsh.
Effects:
The consensus of user reports is a stimulating, head-centered effect. Energy, focus and talkativeness are named, along with creativity, euphoria and an uplifted mood, and in individual reports also silliness and arousal. Some reports deviate and describe a calm, relaxing effect, and one strain description and one report even mention sleepiness.
Dry mouth, dry or irritated eyes, dizziness and headache are named as side effects. Anxiety and paranoia also appear; several sources link them to too high a dose. One report describes a racing heart, another tiredness.
Versions from Different Breeders:
For the feminized seeds from Crop King Seeds, the vendor states, besides the flowering time, a yield of 400 g/m² indoors and 550 g per plant outdoors, as well as 19 to 26 % THC and 0.38 to 0.67 % CBD. Whether the strain is the vendor's own selection or a reproduction cannot be determined from its information.
A different plant hides behind Sourhaze from Microgenetica. According to the breeder's strain description, it comes from Haze #1 and Super Silver Haze and emerged from repeated backcrosses of the original Haze; a connection to Sour Diesel is not mentioned. Around 120 days of flowering and a tall plant with few side shoots are given.
