For Waikiki Queen, Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds (AMS) crossed a Hawaiian sativa with White Queen, a strain from the breeder's own program. AMS, which by its own account has been breeding since 1996, lists the result as a sativa-leaning hybrid with 70 % sativa and 30 % indica; other strain descriptions give the same ratio. The breeder's seeds are feminized.
AMS describes a sweet, fruity scent and a flavor that brings fresh tropical fruit to mind. Other strain descriptions turn this into pineapple with tart citrus notes over an earthy base, and one adds grape and cheese. User reports describe the scent as tropical and floral; in one report the flavor did not match the intensity of the scent.
Strain descriptions list terpinolene as the leading terpene, followed by myrcene and caryophyllene. A retailer instead names myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene.
According to the breeder's description, the effects begin with energy and creativity and later shift into a looser, calmer phase. User reports stress the mental side: euphoria, creativity, talkativeness and an uplifted mood with little body effect are mentioned. One report describes a cheerful calm that turns into a distinctly head-heavy state, reflective and somewhat absent, with increased distractibility, without loss of the ability to act. Dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness are named as side effects.
AMS puts the THC content of its version at 21 to 23 %, but on the same page also states up to 24 %. Other strain descriptions give single values of 23 % and 24 %.
Indoors, AMS expects 8 to 12 weeks of flowering, a height of up to 90 cm and a yield of up to 700 g/m². Outdoors, according to the breeder, the plants can reach up to 2.5 m and yield up to 1150 g/m²; AMS names continental and temperate climates as suitable. The breeder rates the difficulty as moderate and describes the buds as very dense.
In the reports read, criticism concerns mainly the flavor. Regarding the appearance of the buds, density, heavy trichome coverage and a purple coloring are mentioned. One grower reports having grown the strain repeatedly outdoors with good yields.
