Amnesia Haze (Soma, collection 2005 to 2009) × Nevil's Wreck; according to the page, never available feminized.
Moonshine Haze by Rare Dankness of Colorado crosses Amnesia Haze with Nevil's Wreck and won the sativa category at the 2011 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam.
Moonshine Haze took first place among the sativas from seed companies at the 2011 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. It was entered by Rare Dankness of Colorado, a company founded in the same year that quickly became known among growers through this success. The strain derives from a cross of Amnesia Haze and Nevil's Wreck.
Rare Dankness was founded by Scott Reach, known as Moonshine. He ran the seed company Moonshine Seeds from 1999 to 2007, opened a dispensary in Colorado in 2009 and built up Rare Dankness in 2011. For Moonshine Haze the company combined an Amnesia Haze with Nevil's Wreck, a strain from its own line. According to the breeder, the Amnesia Haze comes from a Soma collection from 2005 to 2009 and leans slightly toward the Afghan side. Strain descriptions classify the result as predominantly sativa-leaning, with one of them putting the sativa share at 80 %.
Moonshine Haze is itself a parent of further strains. Rare Dankness crossed it with Ghost Train Haze #1 to make a feminized strain. Terrapin Care Station bred Moonshine Cookies from Moonshine Haze and GSC, and Moonrise is listed as another offspring.
Rare Dankness sums up the flavor as tropical fruit punch with pine cleaner and haze. Other strain descriptions put citrus and grapefruit first, accompanied by floral and earthy notes, sage and wood; another describes the scent as candy-sweet with pine and bubble gum. User reports mention grapefruit, pine, flowers and vanilla. One report notes a faint diesel tone beneath fruity notes, another a peppery finish.
Several strain descriptions name terpinolene as the leading terpene. Depending on the source, caryophyllene and pinene or limonene and myrcene follow; one producer also lists ocimene.
In user reports, an energizing, mood-lifting effect comes first, linked to creativity and focus. Some consumers became talkative or silly. Others additionally report physical relaxation, which in one case lasted longer than the effect in the head. Side effects named are headache, dry mouth, dizziness and inner restlessness; one strain description mentions grogginess at higher doses. Strength is rated differently, and individual reports found the effect disappointing.
Strain descriptions give THC values between 20 and 26 %. One of them also lists 1 % CBG.
According to strain descriptions, Rare Dankness has released Moonshine Haze exclusively as regular, photoperiod seeds. For flowering, strain descriptions set at least 70 days. The strain is considered suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation. Descriptions rate the difficulty as moderate, one of them as moderate to demanding; the same one points to pronounced stretching and tall, branched plants.
The flowers are described as light green with orange pistils and a thick layer of trichomes. User reports speak of compact, resinous buds.
Dragons Flame Genetics lists a genetically different strain under the same name, crossed from Moonshine by DJ Short and Bangi Haze F9. The breeder gives about 63 days of flowering indoors and a harvest in October in the Pacific Northwest of the USA. According to its description, the plants form strong main flowers with a broad, bushy habit, are resistant to rot and mildew, and can be run in SOG, SCROG or with LST. For the aroma of the phenotypes, Dragons Flame Genetics describes tropical fruits such as passion fruit, mango and pineapple, plus haze. This version too is documented only as regular seed.
