WTF comes from White Tygh Farms in Oregon: a cross of CBD-dominant parents Harlequin, Sour Tsunami and Cannatonic unexpectedly produced THC-dominant flowers.
WTF owes its name to a breeding result that surprised White Tygh Farms itself: a cross of 3 CBD-dominant strains, Harlequin, Sour Tsunami and Cannatonic, produced a plant with THC-dominant flowers. The farm in Tygh Valley, Oregon, responded with the exclamation that has served as the strain name ever since. The description that records this story mentions recessive traits that are meant to be gentle on the body and stimulating for the mind.
The 3 parent strains are named consistently in 2 independent strain descriptions. They disagree on classification: one simply lists WTF as a hybrid, the other as indica-dominant with 70 % indica and 30 % sativa. A user report, in turn, considers the strain a cross of 3 sativas. The second description also gives WTF OG as an alternative name. Under that name, however, Cannarado Genetics markets a genetically distinct strain.
The cannabinoid figures from strain descriptions contradict each other clearly. One gives 14 % THC and 0 % CBD and rates potency as medium and below average; only this one fits the origin story of a THC-dominant plant. The other gives 10 to 18 % THC with 14 % CBD and describes WTF as a rare hybrid with a THC-to-CBD ratio of 1:1.
According to the strain description, Cole Fritcher, master grower at White Tygh Farms, found the smell hard to pin down. He approached it with the image of sweet orange drink powder, blueberry and compost soil. A second description names an earthy, pungent base note with skunk, sweet notes, overripe berries and spices; in flavor sweet blueberry and pine, with earthy skunk on the exhale. Blueberry and skunk thus appear in both descriptions. One strain description lists myrcene as the predominant terpene, followed by ocimene and pinene.
User reports add strawberry and a fruity sweetness; one report recalls cinnamon or ginger biscuits with vanilla and warm spices. Visually, one description depicts small, very firm buds in dark forest green with few amber hairs and a coating of trichomes.
The strain descriptions set different emphases. One highlights drive, creativity and good mood, the other a calm, relaxed high that builds gradually without overwhelming, combined with concentration. In user reports, euphoria, uplifted mood, creativity and focus recur; some describe giddiness and talkativeness, others relaxation and a tingling in the body.
Impressions differ on strength. One report found WTF weaker than comparable sativas, another describes a very strong and long-lasting intoxication at larger amounts. In a further report, physical relaxation came with racing thoughts, persistent restlessness and being firmly stuck on the sofa. Dry mouth, dry eyes and headaches are also named as side effects, once also a tickle in the nose.
WTF OG from Cannarado Genetics shares only part of its name with the strain from Oregon. The breeder crossed a hybrid of Fire OG and Triangle Kush with The White. According to one strain description, this version exists exclusively as feminized seeds, can be grown indoors and outdoors and flowers for 65 to 70 days; Cannarado Genetics projects medium yields.
