The breeding program of Alien Genetics began in 1999 in Honeydew, California, and Alien Rock Candy, or ARC for short, comes out of it. The breeder crossed a Sour Dubble mother with a Tahoe Alien father and gives the ratio as 60 % indica to 40 % sativa. According to a 2026 report, Alien Genetics now works mainly for the New Jersey and New York markets. Several seed lines from other suppliers circulate under the name today.
Genetics and Origin:
All descriptions agree on the lineage. A year of origin is not documented. A US producer who, by their own account from 2022, has grown ARC from the original seeds for more than 11 years observes that the plants have become more vigorous over time. Alien Genetics itself offered the strain only as regular seed; the breeder never had feminized seeds.
As a parent, ARC has shaped several lines. Alien Genetics crossed it with OG Sours F4 to make Alien Rock Sours. Moon Arc goes back to Moonbow 112 and Alien Rock Candy and in turn appears in the pedigree of Kiwi Sours. Alien Moonrocks and Alien Dirt Cake are also listed as offspring.
Aroma and Flavor:
Alien Genetics describes the flavor as sour candy with OG character and hints of Alien Kush. On the exhale, a note of lemon-lime soda is said to emerge underneath, which according to the breeder stays on the palate for about 15 minutes. The producer mentioned describes a deep, sour earthiness with candy-sweet berry, citrus and fuel. Other strain descriptions add apricot, pine, cheese and spicy Kush notes.
Citrus, pine and pepper appear in user reports, occasionally also watermelon, artificial fruit candy or a gassy, earthy aftertaste; some found the smoke harsh. Myrcene and limonene are named as the leading terpenes; an analysis of tested products adds caryophyllene, the producer nerolidol.
Effects:
The breeder calls ARC invigorating. User reports are more mixed: some consumers describe a euphoric, creative state with good focus and a desire to talk, others a heavy physical relaxation up to drowsiness or hours of couch-lock. Several reports say the effect comes on with a delay and shifts from initial stimulation into relaxation. Blim Burn Seeds describes a similar progression for its own version. One report, by contrast, notes that the strain kept the user awake. Dry mouth, dry eyes, dizziness and food cravings are named as accompanying effects.
THC Content:
Strain descriptions give 17 to 24 % THC for ARC, one of them additionally 1 % CBG.
Cultivation:
According to Alien Genetics, the strain is easy to grow and to propagate from cuttings, and flowering takes about 56 days. Other descriptions give a somewhat longer flowering time and rate cultivation as moderately difficult. The breeder highlights strong resistance to powdery mildew; topped and trained plants form dense buds even deep in the canopy, according to the breeder. Another description advises at least 1 month of vegetative growth and topping 1 to 2 times.
Observations on growth habit diverge. The producer describes a distinctly vertical habit at medium height that can hardly be trained wider. When flushed at the end of flowering, the plants at this producer turn magenta and violet through to orange.
Versions from Different Breeders:
THC Development Seed Company sells regular seeds of an F2 generation from parent plants of the same type. The supplier describes strongly stretching phenotypes with little variation, medium to tall height, large yield and 7 to 8 weeks of flowering. Blim Burn Seeds lists feminized seeds, also gives 7 to 8 weeks indoors and an outdoor harvest in October; the plants are said to stay bushy and rather short and to be high-yielding. The version from Dr. Blaze with the same lineage is also feminized.
Alien Rock Candy LE from Seedsman has altered genetics: an elite cutting named Nicole was added to Sour Dubble and Tahoe Alien. Seedsman gives 20 to 24 % THC for this predominantly indica, feminized line and describes a sweet-tart lemon and lime flavor.
